A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Lawal Batagarawa, has said that former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, deserves the full protection of the law amid the allegations against him.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Batagarawa made the remark while reacting to claims of phone-tapping and other accusations linked to the former governor.

According to the ADC chieftain, El-Rufai should be treated fairly like every other Nigerian citizen and not be judged outside the legal process.

He spoke on Thursday during a live appearance on a programme aired on Trust TV.

Batagarawa said, “El-Rufai, like every other Nigerian, deserves to be treated fairly before the law.

“But if anyone takes the statement he made as proof that he is guilty, that would be wrong. No one should be judged outside a competent court. That is the point we are making.

“El-Rufai should enjoy the full protection of the law. In this matter, due process does not appear to be followed. The process must be conducted openly, transparently and, most importantly, fairly.”

Meanwhile, Hadiza Isma, the wife of Nasir El-Rufai, has dismissed claims that the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) discovered wiretapping devices in their residence.

The anti-graft agency had earlier alleged that suspected surveillance and wiretapping equipment capable of intercepting confidential communications and accessing classified security information were recovered during a raid on El-Rufai’s Abuja residence.

However, reacting in a post shared on , Hadiza denied the allegation, insisting that no such devices were found.

“I was there. No such equipment was found. They lie. But why? An agency with no credibility at all,” she wrote.

Gbenjo’s warning comes amid growing controversy surrounding the late singer’s death and burial arrangements, with reports of disagreements among members of his family.

The gospel singer spoke on Tuesday during a night of tributes held in honour of Toluwanisings in Ibadan, Oyo State. He warned against allowing the situation to degenerate into a controversy similar to the one that followed the death of Nigerian singer Mohbad.

Describing the deceased as a devoted Christian and a genuine servant of God, Gbenjo said Toluwanisings was passionate about his faith and had a good relationship with people.

He urged the public to stop fuelling unnecessary controversy over the late singer’s death, particularly through social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.

“You can never see Toluwani in the midst of jobless people. He had a good heart. He was a friend to everybody. He served the Lord with all his heart. Don’t turn Toluwani into Mohbad. That madness on TikTok and Instagram must stop. If you are jobless, go and look for a job,” Gbenjo said.

Meanwhile, comedians Ayobami Ajewole, popularly known as Woli Agba, and Olamide Oladimeji, also known as Dele Omo Woli, have threatened legal action against individuals allegedly linking them to Toluwanisings’ death.

Woli Agba disclosed this in a public notice shared on his Instagram page on Sunday.

In the notice issued by their solicitors, Gemgold, the comedians warned members of the public against publishing or circulating allegations they described as false and defamatory against them.
