Governor Nwifuru had recently placed Mbam and his counterpart in the Ministry of Infrastructure Development for Concession, Ogbonnaya Obasi Abara, on indefinite suspension, citing lapses in their ministerial responsibilities.
In a statement shared on his social media, Mbam reaffirmed his loyalty to Governor Nwifuru, describing him as both a leader and mentor. He expressed regret over any disappointment caused and promised to use the experience as motivation to reassess operations, address weaknesses, and build on existing strengths.
Mbam also highlighted that performance in the Ministry of Works remains a priority for the governor, noting that disciplinary actions, whether public or private, are meant to strengthen governance and enhance service delivery.
He said, “Leadership and mentorship come with the ability to accept praise as well as the courage to accept correction. I take full responsibility for the unmet expectations in the Ministry of Works during my tenure. On behalf of the Ministry, I acknowledge the observed lapses. Your Excellency, I sincerely apologize for any disappointment caused. We will do better, and a second chance will not be taken for granted.”
