The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has assured that the process to select its 2027 presidential candidate will be transparent and credible.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

ADC Assistant National Chairman Usani Usani made the statement on Monday during an interview with Arise News, revealing that three individuals have already expressed interest in contesting for the party’s presidential ticket.

According to Usani, the interested candidates are former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi, former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi, and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

“We are awaiting a formal process. Currently, three people have indicated interest in the presidential race: Peter Obi, Rotimi Amaechi, and Atiku Abubakar. I guarantee that the ADC will produce a candidate through openness, transparency, and truth,” he said.

Responding to reports that the South-South caucus of the party has endorsed Amaechi as their preferred flagbearer, Usani said the region has the right to support any candidate, but the ultimate decision will follow the party’s official process.

“We held a leadership meeting in the South-South, led by Chief John Odigie-Oyegun. Amaechi attended and sought our backing as ‘one of our own.’ A voice vote passed with a loud ‘aye’ and no dissent. While one could interpret this as South-South support for Amaechi, it does not override individual members’ choices or the final national decision,” he explained.

On the question of zoning the party’s presidential ticket, Usani noted that it is too early to comment, as the party’s manifesto, policy, and constitution review committees are still deliberating. He promised that the official position would be announced once the committees complete their work.

“We have policy, manifesto, and constitution review committees at work. It would be premature for me to comment ahead of their findings. The ADC aims to reflect the people’s opinion to remain democratic. While I have personal views, as a party official, I must wait for the party’s official position,” he said.

Gbenjo’s warning comes amid growing controversy surrounding the late singer’s death and burial arrangements, with reports of disagreements among members of his family.

The gospel singer spoke on Tuesday during a night of tributes held in honour of Toluwanisings in Ibadan, Oyo State. He warned against allowing the situation to degenerate into a controversy similar to the one that followed the death of Nigerian singer Mohbad.

Describing the deceased as a devoted Christian and a genuine servant of God, Gbenjo said Toluwanisings was passionate about his faith and had a good relationship with people.

He urged the public to stop fuelling unnecessary controversy over the late singer’s death, particularly through social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.

“You can never see Toluwani in the midst of jobless people. He had a good heart. He was a friend to everybody. He served the Lord with all his heart. Don’t turn Toluwani into Mohbad. That madness on TikTok and Instagram must stop. If you are jobless, go and look for a job,” Gbenjo said.

Meanwhile, comedians Ayobami Ajewole, popularly known as Woli Agba, and Olamide Oladimeji, also known as Dele Omo Woli, have threatened legal action against individuals allegedly linking them to Toluwanisings’ death.

Woli Agba disclosed this in a public notice shared on his Instagram page on Sunday.

In the notice issued by their solicitors, Gemgold, the comedians warned members of the public against publishing or circulating allegations they described as false and defamatory against them.

The legal notice maintained that the allegations were baseless and intended to damage the reputations of the two entertainers.
