BYM Raises Alarm Over Alleged Death Threats On Its President.
The Berom Youth Moulders Association (BYM) has raised alarm over alleged death threats against its National President, Barr. Dalyop Solomon Mwantiri, citing his fearless and principled advocacy on Plateau State’s worsening security situation.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In a statement on Saturday, February 28, 2026, BYM National Publicity Secretary Rwang Tengwong said the group had received credible intelligence indicating an imminent threat to Mwantiri’s life. The threats reportedly stem from his outspoken stance against killings, insecurity, and violence targeting indigenous communities, allegedly perpetrated by Fulani bandits and terrorists.
According to Tengwong, the intelligence suggests that armed Fulani militants may have placed a bounty on Mwantiri’s head and are allegedly coordinating with local collaborators to target him.
The statement linked the threats directly to Mwantiri’s advocacy, which exposes persistent attacks, land invasions, and violent activities by armed groups that have claimed over 3,000 Berom lives—mostly women and children—while creating severe humanitarian crises across Plateau communities.
“Available intelligence indicates that these criminal elements, angered by his fearless advocacy, have allegedly placed a significant bounty on his head and are actively planning to track and harm him,” Tengwong said.
He added that the plot involves surveillance, infiltration using local collaborators, and other covert strategies designed to inflict physical or psychological harm, potentially disguised as accidents or natural incidents.
“These revelations highlight the desperation of violent groups whose main goal is to silence voices calling for justice and peace. BYM views this as a direct threat not only to our President but also to freedom of speech, civic engagement, and community leadership in Plateau State. Should anything happen to him, the consequences could be far-reaching and devastating,” Tengwong emphasized.
While condemning the alleged threats, he warned that any harm to Mwantiri would constitute a grave attack on democracy, peace, justice, and the collective conscience of Nigerians.
Tengwong urged the police, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigerian Army, Operation Enduring Peace, and other security agencies to immediately provide adequate protection for the BYM President and to conduct a thorough investigation into the threats.
