The 26-year-old was handed a three-month ban on Friday after the club accused him of influencing the outcomes of a CAF Confederation Cup match against Flambeau de Centre and an NBC Premier League fixture versus Namungo FC.
Obasogie has firmly denied the claims, insisting he will clear his name.
“I want to make it very clear that I have never been involved in match-fixing and never will be,” he said in a statement.
“The goals conceded in the CAF Confederation Cup and NBC Premier League matches were due to footballing mistakes, not any deliberate wrongdoing. I take responsibility for my performance, but errors on the pitch should not be mistaken for manipulation.”
The former Bendel Insurance goalkeeper also reaffirmed his loyalty to Singida Black Stars. “I remain committed to serving the club with honour and contributing to its success,” he added.
In England, Hull City manager Sergej Jakirović revealed that Super Eagles defender Semi Ajayi is nearing a return from injury.
The 32-year-old has been sidelined since a hamstring injury at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, missing Hull’s last seven matches in all competitions.
Jakirović provided an update ahead of the Championship trip to Portsmouth, saying: “He trained with us normally today, which is great news. We’ll see if he joins us in Portsmouth or will be included in the squad for Ipswich on Tuesday.”
