During the meeting, Governor Eno updated the President on recent developments and the overall state of affairs in Akwa Ibom.

The visit comes several months after Eno formally left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC). He had officially announced his defection on June 6, 2025, at the Government House in Uyo, following three months of consultations with key stakeholders across the state.

At the time, Eno expressed gratitude to the PDP for its support during his tenure, stressing that the decision to switch parties was not taken lightly.

“After extensive consultations as your elected servant, I have decided to progressively move to the APC,” he said during the announcement.

The governor explained that his move was motivated by his respect and admiration for President Tinubu and the desire to align Akwa Ibom with the Federal Government to unlock greater development opportunities.

“We are joining the APC today in the interest of the state, out of admiration and respect for President Tinubu, and to provide support for Senate President Godswill Akpabio,” he noted.

Eno emphasized that the defection was strategic, not a result of political weakness. “We are not joining the APC from a position of weakness, but from a position of strength. This move is about aligning our state with the centre,” he added.

The governor reassured Akwa Ibom residents that his commitment to their welfare remains unchanged, affirming that regardless of party affiliation, he will continue to work tirelessly for the state’s development and the well-being of its people.

Gbenjo’s warning comes amid growing controversy surrounding the late singer’s death and burial arrangements, with reports of disagreements among members of his family.

The gospel singer spoke on Tuesday during a night of tributes held in honour of Toluwanisings in Ibadan, Oyo State. He warned against allowing the situation to degenerate into a controversy similar to the one that followed the death of Nigerian singer Mohbad.

Describing the deceased as a devoted Christian and a genuine servant of God, Gbenjo said Toluwanisings was passionate about his faith and had a good relationship with people.

He urged the public to stop fuelling unnecessary controversy over the late singer’s death, particularly through social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.

“You can never see Toluwani in the midst of jobless people. He had a good heart. He was a friend to everybody. He served the Lord with all his heart. Don’t turn Toluwani into Mohbad. That madness on TikTok and Instagram must stop. If you are jobless, go and look for a job,” Gbenjo said.
