Walida’s father said she was 16 when she was abducted in 2023 from Hadejia LGA of Jigawa State. She was allegedly taken by a woman identified as Mariam and later ended up in Abuja, where she reportedly stayed with a DSS operative, Ifeanyi Onyewuenyi. She gave birth to a baby girl in November 2025.

After efforts by her family to secure her release failed, a petition was filed at the DSS headquarters, followed by a court action in Jigawa. Although the court ordered her release to her parents, the DSS filed a counter-motion, saying investigations were ongoing.

Describing politics as a reciprocal process, Wike stressed that the era of empty promises was over:

“Leaders must demonstrate their commitment to delivering good governance. You cannot make promises during elections and vanish afterward without fulfilling them. We asked you to support Tinubu, starting with the area council elections. On February 21, you came through, delivering 133 of the 135 polling units in the council for Tinubu. What more can we say but thank you? You have done your part; we will now do ours. Abaji people have spoken, and they spoke decisively,” he said.
