The decision was made on Thursday during a budget defence session for the Federal Ministry of Finance and its agencies.

Committee Chairman, Senator Sani Musa, accused Magaji of consistently ignoring invitations from the committee. He said:

“The Registrar General has on numerous occasions refused to honour invitations and summons issued by this committee.”

Musa added that the panel is concerned about discrepancies in the reconciliation of the CAC’s revenue, noting that each time Magaji was summoned, he would send a junior officer instead of appearing himself.

Another committee member, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, proposed withholding approval for any CAC budget allocation in the 2026 Appropriation Act until Magaji personally appears before the committee. He also suggested that the commission should not spend its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) without prior approval from the National Assembly.

“Leaders must demonstrate their commitment to delivering good governance. You cannot make promises during elections and vanish afterward without fulfilling them. We asked you to support Tinubu, starting with the area council elections. On February 21, you came through, delivering 133 of the 135 polling units in the council for Tinubu. What more can we say but thank you? You have done your part; we will now do ours. Abaji people have spoken, and they spoke decisively,” he said.
