The internal crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Taraba State has deepened following the rejection of a 16-member caretaker committee announced by a faction of the party’s National Caretaker Working Committee.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The faction, reportedly led by Nyesom Wike, had on Tuesday unveiled the committee, chaired by Victor Falack, to oversee the party’s affairs in Taraba for an initial 30-day period or until a new executive is elected. The committee was said to have been formed in line with the PDP constitution, with the stated aim of stabilizing the party’s structure and ensuring compliance with internal guidelines.

However, the move was immediately dismissed by the recognized Taraba State PDP leadership. In a statement signed by Media and Publicity Officer Herbert Faith Bello, the state chapter described the caretaker committee as “false, misleading, and unauthorized.”

The statement said the announcement originated from “an unrecognized body with no constitutional standing within the party” and accused the faction of attempting to sow confusion and tension among members.

The state chapter reiterated that the PDP in Taraba remains fully constituted under the leadership of Acting Chairman Comrade Chief Obidah Bitrus. It stressed that the existing leadership is intact and committed to upholding the party’s constitution and internal democratic principles.

“Party members and the general public are advised to disregard the caretaker committee announcement entirely, as it does not reflect the position of the recognized state leadership or any legitimate organ of the party,” the statement read.

As the situation develops, party members and stakeholders are reportedly awaiting further clarification from the national leadership to determine the legality and political implications of the competing claims.

Gbenjo’s warning comes amid growing controversy surrounding the late singer’s death and burial arrangements, with reports of disagreements among members of his family.

The gospel singer spoke on Tuesday during a night of tributes held in honour of Toluwanisings in Ibadan, Oyo State. He warned against allowing the situation to degenerate into a controversy similar to the one that followed the death of Nigerian singer Mohbad.

Describing the deceased as a devoted Christian and a genuine servant of God, Gbenjo said Toluwanisings was passionate about his faith and had a good relationship with people.

He urged the public to stop fuelling unnecessary controversy over the late singer’s death, particularly through social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.

“You can never see Toluwani in the midst of jobless people. He had a good heart. He was a friend to everybody. He served the Lord with all his heart. Don’t turn Toluwani into Mohbad. That madness on TikTok and Instagram must stop. If you are jobless, go and look for a job,” Gbenjo said.
