At the polling unit, both Christopher Maikalangu of the APC and Paul Moses of the ADC received 12 votes each in an exercise marked by low voter turnout. Out of 749 registered voters, only 32 cast their ballots. The Peoples Democratic Party candidate polled four votes, the All Progressives Grand Alliance candidate had two, while the Social Democratic Party and Action Democratic Party recorded one vote each.

Presiding Officer Martins Sani confirmed the results and described the voting as orderly.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) reported that the FCT Area Council elections have been peaceful. FCT Commandant Dr. Olusola Odumosu told journalists at the command headquarters that massive security deployment across polling units helped maintain order.

“We have our personnel on standby, and sister agencies like the police are also prepared. From what I have observed, the elections are proceeding smoothly with no disturbances,” Odumosu said.

He added that the NSCDC’s presence was aimed at deterring anyone attempting to disrupt the process or manipulate results. The commandant expressed confidence that there would be no post-election violence and emphasized that officers are ready to intervene if necessary.

Odumosu also highlighted that the area council elections serve as a rehearsal for the 2027 general elections, providing valuable insights for future security planning. “We will review and assess the process after the elections and make improvements where necessary,” he noted.

Gbenjo’s warning comes amid growing controversy surrounding the late singer’s death and burial arrangements, with reports of disagreements among members of his family.

The gospel singer spoke on Tuesday during a night of tributes held in honour of Toluwanisings in Ibadan, Oyo State. He warned against allowing the situation to degenerate into a controversy similar to the one that followed the death of Nigerian singer Mohbad.

Describing the deceased as a devoted Christian and a genuine servant of God, Gbenjo said Toluwanisings was passionate about his faith and had a good relationship with people.

He urged the public to stop fuelling unnecessary controversy over the late singer’s death, particularly through social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.

“You can never see Toluwani in the midst of jobless people. He had a good heart. He was a friend to everybody. He served the Lord with all his heart. Don’t turn Toluwani into Mohbad. That madness on TikTok and Instagram must stop. If you are jobless, go and look for a job,” Gbenjo said.

In the notice issued by their solicitors, Gemgold, the comedians warned members of the public against publishing or circulating allegations they described as false and defamatory against them.
