The company said the interruptions would affect customers served by the Mando-Kumbotso 330kV and Shiroro-Mando 330kV transmission lines on specific days over the coming months.

In a public notice, KEDCO stated that the Mando–Kumbotso 330kV line would be affected from January 17 to April 17, 2026, while the Shiroro-Mando 330kV line would experience outages from January 17 to February 17, 2026.

The outages are scheduled for Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.

KEDCO explained that the power interruptions are necessary to allow the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to install Optical Ground Wire under the Nigeria Electricity Transmission Project. The upgrade is intended to strengthen transmission infrastructure and improve long-term service reliability.

The company assured customers that not all areas would experience complete blackouts during the period, noting that alternative supply arrangements had been made. Some locations will be back-fed from other sources to minimise disruption.

KEDCO appealed to customers for patience and cooperation, stating:
“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding as we work to ensure a more reliable electricity supply across our franchise area.”

The announcement comes amid growing concerns over electricity supply instability, with many consumers hoping that the planned upgrades will lead to improved power delivery in the affected states.
