117 Repentant Terrorists Set For Community Return.
A total of 117 repentant terrorists have successfully completed the federal government’s de-radicalisation, rehabilitation, and reintegration (DRR) programme under Operation Safe Corridor (OPSC) in Borno State.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The Nigerian Army confirmed the development on Thursday during a high-level stakeholders’ meeting at the Nigerian Army Resource Centre in Abuja.
OPSC Coordinator, Y. Ali, stated that the graduates underwent the programme at Mallam Sidi Camp, highlighting strengthened collaboration between federal and state authorities in the areas of reception, monitoring, and community reintegration. He added that the meeting also finalised plans for transferring the rehabilitated individuals to their respective national and state authorities for reintegration into local communities.
Ali emphasised that OPSC remains a multi-agency initiative, supported by the Nigerian Constitution and international humanitarian frameworks, involving personnel from 17 ministries, departments, and agencies. Since its launch in 2016, the programme has refined its screening processes, ideological disengagement modules, psychosocial support, and inter-agency coordination.
He further noted OPSC’s expansion to north-western states, including the establishment of a camp in Zamfara last year, with ongoing discussions to create a similar facility in Benue.
Chief of Defence Staff Olufemi Oluyede, represented by Jamal Abdusalam, Chief of Defence Operations, described the programme as a cornerstone of Nigeria’s security strategy. He explained that while military operations create space for stabilisation, structured rehabilitation and reintegration prevent former insurgents from returning to violent activities.
“The programme provides controlled, integrity-driven pathways for surrendering insurgents, helping to reduce insurgent cohesion, generate intelligence, and support long-term stability,” he said.
The stakeholders’ meeting also featured briefings on camp activities, community reintegration strategies, and timelines for the graduates’ return to their communities.

Atiku Opens Up On ADC 2027 Game Plan, Says Consensus Candidate Comes First.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will first pursue a consensus arrangement before considering a primary election for its 2027 presidential ticket.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Atiku made this known during an interview on Arise Television on Wednesday while discussing the party’s leadership and strategy ahead of the next general election.
He said he is open to backing a consensus candidate if that becomes the party’s collective decision, stressing that such support should not be interpreted as stepping aside.
“It is not about stepping aside, but whether I am willing to support, and yes, I will,” Atiku said.
According to him, the ADC’s first priority is to build internal unity and reach an agreement among stakeholders before considering a competitive primary process.
“Our first option will be to work out a consensus. If that doesn’t happen, then of course we will explore other options. And yes, I will support whoever eventually emerges,” he stated.
Atiku also expressed confidence in the political experience within the party, saying he believes a consensus is achievable and may make a full-scale primary contest unnecessary.
“That remains our preferred path. We will go for primaries if consensus fails, but I honestly do not expect it to get to that stage because we are dealing with mature and experienced politicians,” he added.
His comments come amid growing political consultations and coalition talks as parties begin to position themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
