US Military Support Needed In Anti-Terror War – Shehu Sani.

Former Kaduna Central senator, Shehu Sani, has welcomed the security collaboration between the United States and Nigeria, calling it a crucial measure in the country’s fight against terrorism.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Speaking on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief on Wednesday, following the arrival of US troops in Nigeria, Sani said, “We cannot continue to fold our arms while terrorists slaughter and kidnap our people, and at the same time shut the door on support from other countries. The fight is ours, but assistance is welcome as long as it is a genuine partnership.”

On Monday, the Defence Headquarters confirmed that approximately 100 US military personnel and equipment had arrived in Nigeria. Maj. Gen. Samaila Uba, Director of Defence Information, explained that the deployment followed a security agreement between the two nations.

“The collaboration will provide access to specialised technical capabilities to strengthen Nigeria’s ability to counter terrorist threats and protect vulnerable communities nationwide,” Uba said. He stressed that the US personnel would serve in advisory and training roles only.

While the move has faced criticism over concerns about Nigeria’s sovereignty, Sani argued that the country’s security challenges take precedence.

“I have read the statements from those opposing foreign military presence and understand their concerns about sovereignty,” Sani said. “However, our sovereignty has already been violated by the presence of foreign terrorists on our soil. International military cooperation is standard practice globally. Even superpowers work with other nations to achieve their objectives.”

The US deployment follows President Donald Trump’s redesignation of Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern, citing alleged killings of Christians—a claim denied by Nigerian authorities. In December, the United States also conducted joint strikes in Nigeria targeting terrorist elements, described by both governments as coordinated operations.

Security forces have since restored order to the area.

A survey of the aftermath reveals significant destruction to the police station, including damaged doors, windows, and ceilings, as well as the loss of a generator and other equipment. In total, five vehicles were destroyed—two located within the station premises and three outside.
