Dangote Predicts US Dollar Fall Against Naira.

Published

on

The President of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has expressed confidence that the naira could rebound to about ₦1,000 against the United States dollar before the end of the year.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Dangote made the projection on Tuesday at the unveiling of the Nigeria Industrial Policy in Abuja, stating that the Federal Government’s recent economic reforms were beginning to deliver tangible benefits for manufacturers.

He said the improving policy climate had renewed confidence among investors and key players in the industrial sector.

“Looking at the situation today, Your Excellency, I believe the policies your administration has introduced are beginning to show results, and manufacturers are extremely pleased,” he remarked at the event attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima and other dignitaries.

Dangote noted that with the naira currently trading around ₦1,300 to the dollar, the currency could strengthen further if the country reduces its reliance on imports and boosts domestic production.

“Right now, the dollar is about ₦1,340. Mr. Vice-President, based on what I know, if we curb excessive importation, the naira could drop to as low as ₦1,100 this year if we are fortunate. The only concern might be whether the government allows it to strengthen, since a weaker naira means higher revenue in local currency terms.

“But it’s a difficult balance. If the naira appreciates, prices of goods will decline. That would happen because we depend heavily on imports, which is not ideal. We should instead focus on producing what we consume,” he said.

The billionaire industrialist called on the government to enhance support for local investors through targeted incentives and better infrastructure, particularly improved power supply, which he described as a significant challenge for businesses.

He emphasised that while the new industrial policy represents meaningful progress, it must be supported with deliberate actions that empower manufacturers to create jobs and drive economic expansion.

His remarks come shortly after the Chairman of First HoldCo, Femi Otedola, also predicted that the naira could appreciate to ₦1,000 per dollar before year-end. Otedola linked his optimism to growing local refining capacity, which he said would ease pressure on foreign exchange demand.

Addressing the gathering, Shettima highlighted the importance of private sector participation in realising the goals of the industrial policy. He revealed that Dangote Cement alone contributed approximately ₦900 billion in taxes in 2025, underscoring the critical role of major industrial firms in national development.

According to the Vice President, the Nigeria Industrial Policy aims to promote value addition, strengthen industrial linkages, and enhance the country’s export competitiveness.

Also in attendance were the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume; representatives of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria; officials from the United Nations; and several prominent industry leaders.

“Inside The Power Play: Governors Privately Plotting Against Tinubu As 2027 Tensions Explode!”.

Dele Momodu, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has claimed that the party’s presidential candidate can secure victory against President Bola Tinubu and Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) flag bearer Peter Obi by leveraging strategic support from the North. Speaking during a recent interview on Nevon Media, Momodu argued that the 2027 presidential race would be a formidable challenge for the incumbent president.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

  • Northern Dominance: Momodu asserted that Atiku is positioned to win a majority of votes in the North, where the largest volume of votes is concentrated, potentially leaving opponents struggling in the South.

  • Constitutional Strategy: To satisfy the constitutional requirement of securing the highest number of votes alongside at least 25% of the vote in two-thirds of the states, Momodu believes Atiku will comfortably reach the 25% threshold in at least 26 states.

  • Strategic Consolidation: According to Momodu, the North has made a “strategic” move by ensuring no strong northern leader remains to compete against Atiku, with Kwankwaso now positioned as a running mate.

  • Shifting Political Allegiances: Unlike the 2023 election, Momodu suggested that the North now views anyone not supporting Atiku as a “traitor,” a dynamic he believes creates a different political landscape for 2027.

  • Southern Competition: Momodu expressed confidence that Atiku would effectively navigate the southern political terrain, specifically highlighting Osun State as an area where the candidate would perform well.
