The move comes amid increasing political activities within the ruling party as preparations for the 2027 governorship election intensify.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by his spokesperson, Gbenga Ogunleye, Jandor reaffirmed that no consensus candidate has been adopted within the Lagos APC.

He cited the position of the state party leadership, insisting that all aspirants will participate in a credible primary election.

The statement read in part that “no aspirant has been anointed,” stressing that the selection process will be determined through party primaries.

Despite this, Jandor expressed readiness to support any consensus decision reached by the party, saying he remains committed to the party’s collective choice, regardless of the outcome.

He also confirmed that he remains active in the race, noting that he has intensified consultations across Lagos State to strengthen grassroots support.

According to him, ongoing engagements are aimed at building broader backing within the party and consolidating his political structure.

Jandor further warned against misinterpreting personal endorsements or campaign activities as official party positions.

Meanwhile, Lagos State Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat has also stepped up consultations ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

Hamzat recently met with members of the GAC and other party leaders during a visit to elder statesman Tajudeen Olusi in Lagos, alongside prominent figures such as Mutiu Are, Musiliu Obanikoro, and Bode Oyedele.

He said the discussions focused on the future direction of Lagos State and the type of leadership needed for continued development.

Hamzat described the consultations as part of ongoing efforts to engage stakeholders, listen to advice, and collaborate for better governance in the state.

Reports had claimed that former Oyo First Lady, Florence Ajimobi, allegedly met with the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Adebowale Ogundoyin, over plans to remove the governor from office.

However, Makinde dismissed the speculation while speaking at the inauguration of committees focused on tourism development and preparations for the International Tourism Summit 2026 on Thursday.

He noted that his administration still has about a year and one month left in office, adding that attention should remain on governance and ongoing development plans.

Makinde said, “So this administration will come to an end in one year and one month. So what will happen next? Well, that is if I am not impeached then.”

He explained that two committees were inaugurated during the event — one for the International Tourism Summit Oyo State 2026 and another for a 25-Year Tourism Master Plan aimed at guiding long-term development in the state.

The governor stressed that both initiatives require serious commitment and active participation to ensure lasting impact for the people of Oyo State.

He said his administration is committed to tackling poverty, promoting freedom, and strengthening democratic governance in Nigeria.

Speaking during a meeting with the Renewed Hope Ambassadors at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Tinubu said he aims to offer a clear alternative to what he described as political “noise” from opposition groups.

The President also stressed the need for respect for the rule of law, separation of powers, and compliance with judicial decisions, even when rulings are unfavorable to certain interests.

He dismissed attempts to intimidate him ahead of the election, saying he is familiar with political tactics and remains unfazed by opposition moves.

According to him, “They want to scare me off? It’s a lie. I have been through this path before, and if I have to come back over and over again, I will do the same thing.”

Meanwhile, presidential aide Bayo Onanuga criticised former Vice President Atiku Abubakar over his 2027 ambition, accusing him of ignoring zoning arrangements and pursuing personal political interests.

Onanuga warned that such actions could deepen divisions within opposition parties, while expressing confidence that Atiku would be defeated in the 2027 polls.
