“Soldier K!lled By Bandits En Route To Zamfara Deployment”.
A Nigerian soldier, Abdulwahab Lawal, was reportedly killed in an ambush by suspected bandits while en route to his duty post in Zamfara State.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Family members said Lawal had departed Malumfashi in Katsina State to resume duty when gunmen attacked commuters along the route on Tuesday evening.
The incident was also highlighted by an (formerly Twitter) user, @DanKatsina50. Sources who spoke with Sahara Reporters confirmed that Lawal was shot during the attack and died at the scene.
The assailants are believed to be armed bandits operating across parts of the North-West, a region frequently plagued by highway attacks, raids on rural communities, and assaults on security personnel.
For years, the North-West has suffered sustained violence linked to criminal gangs involved in kidnappings, cattle rustling, and deadly raids.
As of this report, security authorities have yet to release an official statement on the ambush, including the exact location and circumstances. However, family members confirmed Lawal’s death and said funeral prayers would follow Islamic rites.
The killing adds to the growing list of casualties in Nigeria’s North-West, where both civilians and security forces continue to face attacks despite ongoing military operations against banditry.
