“Even Tinubu’s Critics Must Admit: Nigeria Is Seeing Real Progress – Wike”.

Speaking on Tuesday at the Distinguished Personality Lecture of the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Abuja, Wike highlighted that Nigeria has experienced remarkable infrastructural growth since Tinubu assumed office in 2023. He emphasized that infrastructure underpins development and represents a direct benefit of good governance for citizens.
According to Wike, even the administration’s strongest critics would acknowledge the strides made in roads, schools, and power supply, noting that such developments demonstrate purposeful leadership. He pointed out that the ongoing projects in Abuja, led by his office, reinforce this perspective.
He said, “When governments build roads, they connect not only cities but economies. Investing in schools shapes not only literacy but responsible citizenship. Providing reliable power energizes not just industry but human dignity. Infrastructure, therefore, is political education cast in concrete and steel—it shows that governance is real, leadership is purposeful, and the state exists to serve.
“Even President Tinubu’s sternest critics will admit that Nigeria is seeing tangible improvements. The Renewed Hope Agenda is more than a slogan; it reflects a deliberate shift in national priorities toward sustainable development. Through decisive investment and political courage, the administration is addressing long-standing structural challenges that previous governments avoided. Infrastructure makes development possible, and under this administration, progress is inevitable.
“When infrastructure is planned and executed transparently, it builds trust between the government and the people. When neglected or politicized, it breeds alienation and cynicism. Democracy delivers real benefits not through speeches, but through visible, functional, and enduring outcomes. In this context, infrastructure is where governance is tested and authenticated.
“The rapid transformation of Abuja under my watch is a clear demonstration of this philosophy in action,” Wike concluded.
