Dalung made the remarks on Tuesday during a protest at the National Assembly over the Senate’s approval of both electronic transmission and manual collation of election results.

He alleged that the current administration was seeking endorsements from all quarters, claiming that even controversial figures had declared support for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking at the protest, Dalung said the government was aggressively courting allies and absorbing political actors into its fold, leaving little room for opposition. He questioned the credibility of an administration he described as desperate for backing, arguing that widespread defections and endorsements signaled weakness rather than strength.

Dalung further criticized what he portrayed as growing political realignments across institutions, suggesting that such trends reflect deep concerns about the country’s democratic direction.
