Valentine’s 2026: Peter Obi Tells Nigerians Love Is Action, Not Just Words.
Former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has called on Nigerians to move beyond the usual flowers and sweet messages this Valentine’s Day and instead express love through service, sacrifice, and a renewed commitment to the nation.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Valentine’s Day, observed annually on February 14, is often linked with romance and grand gestures. But Obi believes its true spirit should extend further, urging Nigerians to show love through responsible action toward their country.
In a message titled “Nigeria Needs Our Love in Action” shared on his page on Saturday, the former Anambra State governor wrote,
“Love is not just emotion; it is sacrifice, discipline, and commitment to what is right, honesty, compassion, respect, and devotion to the common good.”
Obi especially appealed to young Nigerians, encouraging them to use the occasion to reflect on their role in shaping the nation’s future. He stressed that patriotism should go beyond slogans, manifesting in daily choices and civic responsibility.
“Like a living being, a country flourishes when nurtured with care and dedication. Loving Nigeria means promoting fair elections, rejecting vices like corruption, greed, division, and mediocrity, and supporting only those with capacity, commitment, and character,” he said.
He added that true dedication to the country involves the courage to speak out against wrongdoing and the discipline to propose practical solutions. Silence, he warned, is not neutrality but neglect.
“It also means pointing out faults and offering solutions while promoting human and developmental values, justice, competence, transparency, and investment in education and healthcare. Where corruption destroys opportunity, integrity restores it; where division breeds conflict, unity fosters progress,” Obi stated.
The former presidential aspirant argued that if Nigerians extended the essence of Valentine’s Day from personal relationships to public life, the impact would be transformative—strengthening families, uniting communities, and enhancing governance accountability.
“On this Valentine’s Day, let us embrace love that strengthens families, communities, and our nation. A new Nigeria is possible when love becomes action,” he concluded, wishing all a Happy Valentine’s Day.
