Nigerian ‘Tricked’ Into Fighting Or Russia Cries Out, Begs FG For Repatriation.

A Nigerian citizen, Abubakar Adamu, has called on the Federal Government to urgently facilitate his return from Russia, claiming he was tricked into enlisting in the Russian military.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Adamu said he travelled to Russia for what he believed was a civilian security job but later discovered he had been drafted into military service under false pretences.

According to a report by Zagazola Makama, his legal representatives have formally informed Nigerian authorities about his ordeal, alleging that he was deceived and pressured into joining the military.

The lawyers explained that Adamu departed for Moscow on a tourist visa issued on October 16, 2025, by the Russian Embassy in Abuja, after he was offered employment as a sentry.

However, upon arrival in Russia, his passport and other travel documents were allegedly confiscated, and he was made to sign enlistment documents written entirely in Russian, without the assistance of an interpreter.

His legal team stated that he only later realised he had been enlisted into the Russian army.

Adamu is reportedly stranded in a Russian military camp after declining deployment to combat zones in Ukraine.

His case comes amid increasing reports that foreign nationals are being enticed to Russia with promises of civilian employment, only to be conscripted into military service.

On Thursday, Ukraine’s Defence Intelligence announced that the bodies of two Nigerians were recovered in the Luhansk region, allegedly while fighting for Russian forces.

The deceased were identified as Hamzat Kazeem Kolawole, 42, and Mbah Stephen Udoka, 38, who reportedly died in November 2025, months after joining the Russian army.

A recent investigation further alleged that Africans from countries such as Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, and Uganda were recruited with assurances of jobs as drivers or security personnel but were subsequently compelled into military service with limited training before being deployed to the frontlines.

Responding to the claims earlier in the week, Russian Ambassador to Nigeria, Andrey Podyelyshev, denied the existence of any government-sponsored recruitment programme and dismissed suggestions of Kremlin involvement.

Adamu’s lawyers have appealed to Nigerian authorities to act swiftly to ensure his safe return, expressing serious concerns over his safety and welfare.

Gbenjo’s warning comes amid growing controversy surrounding the late singer’s death and burial arrangements, with reports of disagreements among members of his family.

The gospel singer spoke on Tuesday during a night of tributes held in honour of Toluwanisings in Ibadan, Oyo State. He warned against allowing the situation to degenerate into a controversy similar to the one that followed the death of Nigerian singer Mohbad.

Describing the deceased as a devoted Christian and a genuine servant of God, Gbenjo said Toluwanisings was passionate about his faith and had a good relationship with people.

He urged the public to stop fuelling unnecessary controversy over the late singer’s death, particularly through social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.

“You can never see Toluwani in the midst of jobless people. He had a good heart. He was a friend to everybody. He served the Lord with all his heart. Don’t turn Toluwani into Mohbad. That madness on TikTok and Instagram must stop. If you are jobless, go and look for a job,” Gbenjo said.

Meanwhile, comedians Ayobami Ajewole, popularly known as Woli Agba, and Olamide Oladimeji, also known as Dele Omo Woli, have threatened legal action against individuals allegedly linking them to Toluwanisings’ death.

Woli Agba disclosed this in a public notice shared on his Instagram page on Sunday.

In the notice issued by their solicitors, Gemgold, the comedians warned members of the public against publishing or circulating allegations they described as false and defamatory against them.

The legal notice maintained that the allegations were baseless and intended to damage the reputations of the two entertainers.
