Otedola Reacts As Dangote Refinery Hits 650,000bpd Full Production Capacity.

Billionaire entrepreneur and philanthropist Femi Otedola has congratulated Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group, after the Dangote Petroleum Refinery reached its full production capacity of 650,000 barrels per day.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The refinery’s management recently confirmed that the facility achieved its full nameplate capacity following the restoration and optimization of its Crude Distillation Unit and Motor Spirit production block—a milestone described as a global first for a single-train refinery of its scale.

In a statement on Wednesday, Dangote Petroleum Refinery said this achievement marks a key stage in ramping up Africa’s largest oil refining facility. The refinery also began a 72-hour intensive performance test run with its licensor, UOP, to validate operational stability, efficiency, and compliance with international standards.

The performance milestone followed scheduled maintenance on the Crude Distillation Unit and MS Block, which were stabilized and optimized for steady-state operations. Dangote Petroleum Refinery’s CEO, David Bird, highlighted that the seamless integration of the units demonstrates the refinery’s engineering depth and operational resilience.

Reacting on his verified handle on Thursday, Otedola hailed the development as a landmark achievement for Dangote, Nigeria, and Africa.

“I congratulate my friend and brother, @AlikoDangote, on the remarkable achievement of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery reaching its full 650,000 barrels per day capacity,” he wrote.

Otedola emphasized that the refinery’s impact goes beyond production figures, noting its potential to transform Nigeria’s energy sector.

“More importantly, it is transformational for Nigeria and Africa. Supplying up to 75 million litres of PMS daily changes our energy narrative and conserves foreign exchange,” he said.

Impact on Forex and the Naira
Otedola explained that large-scale domestic refining after decades of import dependence is expected to ease pressure on Nigeria’s foreign exchange market.

“With domestic refining now firmly underway, the strain on the forex market should reduce significantly,” he said, adding, “I am optimistic that the naira will strengthen meaningfully, and trading below ₦1,000/$1 before year-end is increasingly within reach.”

He also revealed that Dangote is planning further expansion of the refinery.

“Aliko is not stopping here. He has embarked on an additional $12bn expansion to raise refining capacity to 1.4 million barrels per day, alongside 2.4 million tons of polypropylene and 400,000 metric tons of Linear Alkyl Benzene for detergent production. Work has already commenced in earnest.

“Congratulations once again, my brother. Nigeria is proud of you,” Otedola concluded.

“The Truth Finally Out: How Peter Obi Shocked Critics By Leaving ₦86.6 Billion Behind In Anambra!”

Published

on

Oseloka Obaze, a former Secretary to the Anambra State Government, has stated that former governor Peter Obi left ₦86.6 billion in the state treasury when he handed over power in 2014. Obaze, who served under Obi from 2006 to 2014, made this revelation in a post on X amid ongoing controversies regarding the financial records inherited by successive administrations.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Obaze noted that he was personally present on March 17, 2014, when Obi officially handed over financial documents and the Handover Report to his successor, Willie Obiano. According to him, Obiano received and signed an acknowledgment copy of the letter, which included certified bank statements detailing the state’s assets and liabilities.

Past Debates and Public Corroboration

Recalling the 2017 Anambra governorship debate organized by Channels Television, Obaze mentioned that he challenged Obiano—a certified accountant and auditor—on national television for later expressing reservations about the funds after formally signing off on the handover documents. Following this, Obiano publicly acknowledged that certain funds were left behind, though he questioned the rationale of saving money instead of executing projects.

Obaze also referenced remarks from former Taraba State Governor Darius Ishaku, noting that Obiano once told the Nigerian Press Corps that Obi left substantial funds used to finance the construction of the Anambra Airport at Umueri. Additionally, he cited comments from Abia State Governor Alex Otti, a former banker, as further public validation of the financial legacy.

Expressing confusion over why the records remain a subject of dispute under the current administration, Obaze concluded: “If Governor Obiano… would eventually acknowledge, implicitly and explicit, that Governor Peter Obi indeed left the stipulated funds; a fact that was also publicly corroborated by Governor Alex Otti… what then, one may ask, is the beef and grouse of the incumbent Anambra State Government?”

Speaking on the Capital XTRA Podcast, Peter revealed that his shared birthday with his twin brother, Paul, had become one of the worst days of his life over the past 13 years due to toxic family dynamics and tension.
