The Ogun State Government on Wednesday reaffirmed its commitment to leveraging technology and enhancing collaboration among law enforcement agencies as it inaugurated a CCTV control room for the Ogun State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun Corps.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Secretary to the State Government, Tokunbo Talabi, made the disclosure during the unveiling at the Amotekun headquarters in Abeokuta.

Talabi explained that the new surveillance tools would boost real-time crime detection, improve response times, and help identify and apprehend criminal elements across the state. He stressed that empowering security agencies is central to ensuring residents can live safely.

“Amotekun was set up as a pioneering force to support the state’s security, and given the short time they’ve existed, the CCTV control room gives the government confidence in their operations,” Talabi said. “It shows that strategic, professional thinking is in place.”

He commended Amotekun Corps Commander, Brig. Gen. Alade Adedigba (retd.), for embracing technological innovation and establishing the control room.

“With about 2,000 operatives, technology is essential to effectively manage them and cover the vast terrain of our state,” Talabi added. “This initiative provides a strong foundation to expand our security framework, and the demonstration so far is very impressive. The template is solid, and we can build on it.”

Talabi noted that three surveillance centers are currently operational, with plans to expand coverage across Ogun State. He also highlighted the importance of collaboration among security agencies, saying, “Safety cannot be handled by a single institution. If operatives in one area face challenges, other agencies—including the military if needed—can be called in to support.”

Amotekun Corps Commander, Brig. Gen. Adedigba (retd.), emphasized that the CCTV control room would enhance operational efficiency and security coverage.

“The integration of technology into security is crucial. Without it, measures are reactive and manual. With technology, operations become proactive and can even run semi-automatically,” he said.

Adedigba explained that real-time surveillance shortens response times and strengthens coordination among operatives. “For instance, from our headquarters in Abeokuta, it takes about 45 minutes to reach Ogere. With this system, we can communicate instantly with officers on the ground, saving time, protecting lives, and improving effectiveness. This is why establishing such a system is so important,” he added.
