The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, has paid a courtesy visit to Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, at the Kano Governor’s Lodge.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The visit comes shortly after Governor Yusuf’s defection from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the ruling APC.

In a statement released after the meeting, Basiru said their discussion focused on promoting unity within the party and strengthening its structure in Kano State. He described the engagement as an avenue to further consolidate the APC’s foothold in the state and broaden support for the governor.

“I paid a courtesy visit to the Kano State Governor, H.E. Abba Yusuf, at the Kano Governor’s Lodge,” he stated.

“The visit provided an opportunity to deliberate on how to strengthen and unite our party, the APC, in Kano State and expand the governor’s support base.”

Meanwhile, former APC Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Yekini Nabena, has cautioned the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) against handing over control of party structures to state governors ahead of the forthcoming congresses.

In a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja, Nabena warned that such a move could trigger internal unrest and alienate grassroots members, particularly as preparations intensify for the 2027 general elections.

The Bayelsa-born APC chieftain maintained that success in 2027 would hinge on the backing of ordinary Nigerians rather than political elites.

He also alleged that information from the party’s national secretariat indicated that the Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda-led NWC was considering transferring control of party structures to incumbent governors nationwide.

Nabena called for openness and fairness in the upcoming ward, local government, and state congresses, cautioning that sidelining aspirants could lead to widespread legal challenges across the states and the Federal Capital Territory.

Oloyede said many of the issues recorded during the mock exercise were due to poor assessment of centres by some technical officials.

He further stated that incentive packages would be awarded to teams that perform exceptionally, particularly in handling exam materials and submitting timely reports.

Reiterating JAMB’s zero-tolerance stance on malpractice, he warned candidates against bringing prohibited items into examination halls.
