“Petrol Price Could Fall As Imported Fuel Beats Dangote Refinery Rates – Marketers Warn”.
Petroleum marketers have signalled that fuel prices may fall nationwide in the coming days following a shift in the cost dynamics between imported petrol and Dangote Refinery’s gantry price.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The President of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Abubakar Maigandi, told Daily Post on Monday that current market conditions could soon translate into relief at the pump.
According to the Major Energies Marketers Association of Nigeria (MEMAN), imported petrol is now, on average, ₦77 per litre cheaper than Dangote Refinery’s gantry price of ₦799 per litre. This has sparked optimism among industry players and consumers that retail prices could ease soon.
Last week, Dangote Refinery had urged marketers to avoid coastal petrol, noting that it costs about ₦75 more than its own product. Despite this, fuel prices remain high at retail outlets across the country.
In Abuja, petrol is currently selling between ₦839 and ₦905 per litre, while some stations in Lagos have begun reducing prices to as low as ₦817 per litre, even undercutting Dangote‑supported MRS station prices of ₦839 per litre.
Maigandi explained that around 80% of IPMAN members source petrol directly from Dangote Refinery, highlighting that cost variations are often linked to logistics and purchase volume.
“For those buying more than 2 million litres, there’s a ₦20 discount per litre, and for 5 million litres and above, a ₦25 discount applies. Otherwise, the standard gantry price is ₦799,” he said.
He added that growing competition from other refineries and imports will likely drive prices down further. “Fuel price will likely come down again,” Maigandi noted.
Current retail prices range from ₦820–₦825 per litre in Lagos and ₦870–₦875 per litre in Abuja, largely influenced by transport costs and supply logistics.
The possibility of price moderation comes after Dangote Refinery raised its gantry price from ₦699 to ₦799 per litre in January, which triggered nationwide pump increases. Last December, Dangote had promised to lower petrol prices to ₦739 per litre, a target that has yet to be fully realised.
As of Monday evening, global oil benchmarks traded at $64.36 per barrel for West Texas Intermediate and $69.15 per barrel for Brent Crude, factors that continue to impact domestic fuel pricing.

Gbenjo’s warning comes amid growing controversy surrounding the late singer’s death and burial arrangements, with reports of disagreements among members of his family.
The gospel singer spoke on Tuesday during a night of tributes held in honour of Toluwanisings in Ibadan, Oyo State. He warned against allowing the situation to degenerate into a controversy similar to the one that followed the death of Nigerian singer Mohbad.
Describing the deceased as a devoted Christian and a genuine servant of God, Gbenjo said Toluwanisings was passionate about his faith and had a good relationship with people.
He urged the public to stop fuelling unnecessary controversy over the late singer’s death, particularly through social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.
“You can never see Toluwani in the midst of jobless people. He had a good heart. He was a friend to everybody. He served the Lord with all his heart. Don’t turn Toluwani into Mohbad. That madness on TikTok and Instagram must stop. If you are jobless, go and look for a job,” Gbenjo said.
Meanwhile, comedians Ayobami Ajewole, popularly known as Woli Agba, and Olamide Oladimeji, also known as Dele Omo Woli, have threatened legal action against individuals allegedly linking them to Toluwanisings’ death.
Woli Agba disclosed this in a public notice shared on his Instagram page on Sunday.
In the notice issued by their solicitors, Gemgold, the comedians warned members of the public against publishing or circulating allegations they described as false and defamatory against them.
The legal notice maintained that the allegations were baseless and intended to damage the reputations of the two entertainers.
