‘Our Doors Are Open’ — ADC Lays Out Terms Amid Makinde Defection Rumors.
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Oyo State has outlined the conditions under which Governor Seyi Makinde could join the party, amid growing speculation about a potential political realignment.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
State chairman Yinka Olona made the disclosure on Monday while addressing journalists at a stakeholders’ meeting held at Amuludun Field, Moniya, Ibadan.
Olona said the governor is welcome to join the ADC, provided he adheres to the party’s constitution, rules, and internal democratic processes.
“Let me be clear: the doors of our party are open to anyone willing to join. If he is interested, he is free to do so, as long as he respects our rules. We are not shutting our doors against anybody,” he said.
However, he stressed that no individual would be allowed to hijack or undermine the party’s structure.
“The ADC has strong internal democracy and established mechanisms. No one can simply enter and take over the party. Everything must follow the laid-down procedures,” Olona added.
He also dismissed reports of any formal discussions between the party leadership and the governor.
“As far as I know, no discussions have taken place. Perhaps he has spoken to other individuals I am unaware of. But if he wishes to join, he is free to do so,” he said.
Olona described the ADC as a coalition party driven by widespread dissatisfaction with the current political order.
“The ADC is a coalition responding to the suffering of the masses. Our goal is to rescue Nigerians from the hardships they face and reposition the country to where it should be. It’s not only about winning elections; it’s about restoring Nigeria’s lost glory,” he said.
He added, “The next election will be Nigerians versus the old political order — both APC and PDP have failed the people. The only credible alternative now is the African Democratic Congress.”
Also speaking, ADC governorship aspirant Niyi Aborishade emphasised that the party provides a level playing field for all aspirants.
“ADC is a truly democratic party. Everyone — whether rich or poor, famous or unknown — is given an equal opportunity to present what they have to offer. It is not about money or influence; the party does not impose candidates,” he said.
Regarding the rumoured interest of a sitting PDP governor, Aborishade noted that any move must comply with party rules.
“He is welcome to join if he wishes. But ADC is not a party anyone can control or exploit like elsewhere. Rules apply to everyone, and that will not change,” he said.

Gbenjo’s warning comes amid growing controversy surrounding the late singer’s death and burial arrangements, with reports of disagreements among members of his family.
The gospel singer spoke on Tuesday during a night of tributes held in honour of Toluwanisings in Ibadan, Oyo State. He warned against allowing the situation to degenerate into a controversy similar to the one that followed the death of Nigerian singer Mohbad.
Describing the deceased as a devoted Christian and a genuine servant of God, Gbenjo said Toluwanisings was passionate about his faith and had a good relationship with people.
He urged the public to stop fuelling unnecessary controversy over the late singer’s death, particularly through social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.
“You can never see Toluwani in the midst of jobless people. He had a good heart. He was a friend to everybody. He served the Lord with all his heart. Don’t turn Toluwani into Mohbad. That madness on TikTok and Instagram must stop. If you are jobless, go and look for a job,” Gbenjo said.
Meanwhile, comedians Ayobami Ajewole, popularly known as Woli Agba, and Olamide Oladimeji, also known as Dele Omo Woli, have threatened legal action against individuals allegedly linking them to Toluwanisings’ death.
Woli Agba disclosed this in a public notice shared on his Instagram page on Sunday.
In the notice issued by their solicitors, Gemgold, the comedians warned members of the public against publishing or circulating allegations they described as false and defamatory against them.
The legal notice maintained that the allegations were baseless and intended to damage the reputations of the two entertainers.
