The arrest occurred on Saturday, January 31, 2026, during passenger clearance for Ethiopian Airlines flight ET940 to China. NDLEA confirmed that a body scan detected the ingested cocaine, and Izueke was placed under excretion observation, ultimately expelling all 95 pellets. The suspect, who claimed to trade in clothing and auto spare parts, admitted he trafficked the drugs to fund the construction of a country home in his village, Iwollo, Enugu State.

In related operations, NDLEA seized large quantities of drugs across the country:

  • FCT: 627.7kg of skunk cannabis recovered from a Kubwa warehouse; multiple methamphetamine consignments intercepted between Enugu, Abuja, and Kaduna.

  • Taraba: 1.8kg of meth concealed in Hollandia yogurt packs intercepted at Dan-anacha patrol point.

  • Oyo State: 149.6kg of skunk cannabis seized in Ibudo-Igboho; in Ibadan, Adeniyi Adeola was caught with over 128,000 tramadol and pentazocine units; Jimoh Nurudeen, 40, arrested with cannabis production chemicals, skunk, money, and vehicles.

  • Kwara: 395,400 tramadol capsules recovered from a fuel tanker en route to Borno.

  • Imo & Ondo: 203kg and 420kg of skunk recovered respectively.

  • Lagos & Enugu: 31 wraps of cocaine seized at Badagry; 3.6kg of Canadian Loud and Colorado recovered on Lagos Island; Emeka Okeke, 37, arrested in Enugu with skunk, meth, cocaine, molly, and N457,700 in cash.

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has announced that the FCT University of Science and Technology in Abaji will begin operations during President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
