Shettima Leads Federal Delegation To Kwara After Kaima Massacre.

During the visit, Shettima reaffirmed President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to restoring peace and stability in the affected areas, assuring residents that firm security actions were already underway.

He revealed that a battalion of the Nigerian Army had been deployed to Kaiama as part of broader efforts to curb insecurity across the state.

“We are here on the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to commiserate with you and the people of Kaiama and Kwara State over the tragedy that affected Woro and Nuku communities,” the Vice President said, describing the February 3, 2026 attack as deeply disturbing.

Shettima also disclosed that the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) had been instructed to collaborate with the Kwara State Emergency Management Agency to provide relief materials and other forms of support to the victims.

“Please accept our sincere condolences on behalf of President Tinubu. A battalion of the Nigerian Army has been deployed, and all necessary steps are being taken to restore peace and normalcy,” he assured.

Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, praised the Federal Government’s swift intervention, confirming that security operatives were already on ground.

He noted that “Operation Savannah Shield is in motion” and urged Nigerians to continue praying for improved security across the country.

Borno State Governor and Chairman of the North East Governors Forum, Babagana Umara Zulum, also expressed sympathy to the families of the victims and voiced optimism that such attacks would not happen again.

Local leaders, including the Chairman of Kaiama Local Government Area, Abdullahi Abubakar Danladi, and the Emir of Kaiama, HRH Alhaji Mu’azu Shehu Omar, thanked President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima for their prompt response and the deployment of security personnel.
