How Buhari’s Minister ‘Secretly’ Met Convicted Sex Offender Epstein.
Newly released documents from the United States Department of Justice have alleged that Nigeria’s former Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Okey Enelamah, held a meeting with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein while he was still in office.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The records suggest that the meeting was facilitated by former Goldman Sachs partner, Jide Zeitlin, who reportedly introduced Epstein to Enelamah during talks surrounding a proposed deep seaport project in Badagry, Lagos.
According to the files, Zeitlin engaged Epstein in discussions on the development of the Badagry seaport and helped establish contacts between the financier and Nigerian officials, including Enelamah, who was serving as trade minister at the time.
The documents also indicate that Zeitlin explored the possibility of involving an associate of Epstein, Sultan Bin Sulayem, in the project. Bin Sulayem reportedly showed preference for Badagry over Lekki, citing better existing infrastructure.
In a June 2018 email referenced in the files, Bin Sulayem wrote that he was very interested in Nigeria and favoured Badagry because of its infrastructure advantages.
Another email dated May 3, 2018, showed Zeitlin informing Epstein that Enelamah had visited him shortly after President Muhammadu Buhari’s meeting with then US President Donald Trump. Zeitlin noted that Enelamah mentioned prior discussions with Epstein at the World Economic Forum.
The documents emphasise that these interactions allegedly took place years after Epstein’s 2008 conviction and prison sentence for molesting minors, at a time when he continued to associate with influential figures despite ongoing lawsuits over sexual abuse allegations.
The files further revealed that around the same period, Bill Gates cut ties with Epstein, requesting the deletion of all correspondence and asking him to step down from entities linked to the Gates Foundation.
For weeks, Enelamah reportedly declined to respond to enquiries over the alleged meeting. However, after being informed that the report would be published, a spokesperson said the former minister had no involvement in Epstein’s crimes or any criminal activity.
Enelamah’s time in office was marked by several controversies. In 2016, he was accused of colluding with MTN to repatriate $13 billion from Nigeria, an allegation he denied. In 2019, he was questioned by the Senate over the alleged diversion of ₦42 billion linked to the Nigeria Special Economic Zone project. He rejected the claims, insisting that private sector involvement was approved by then-President Buhari. While senators challenged parts of his explanation, no wrongdoing was established.
Zeitlin, who allegedly acted as the intermediary, later resigned as Chief Executive Officer of Tapestry in 2020 following a separate scandal involving claims of a double identity and allegations that he secretly photographed women nude under a false name.
His earlier nomination as a US ambassador for UN management and reform during the Barack Obama administration also collapsed after allegations from a former partner emerged, leading to his withdrawal.
Zeitlin has denied any criminal wrongdoing but acknowledged that his past personal relationship contributed to his resignation, stating that he stepped aside to avoid becoming a distraction to the company.

Gbenjo’s warning comes amid growing controversy surrounding the late singer’s death and burial arrangements, with reports of disagreements among members of his family.
The gospel singer spoke on Tuesday during a night of tributes held in honour of Toluwanisings in Ibadan, Oyo State. He warned against allowing the situation to degenerate into a controversy similar to the one that followed the death of Nigerian singer Mohbad.
Describing the deceased as a devoted Christian and a genuine servant of God, Gbenjo said Toluwanisings was passionate about his faith and had a good relationship with people.
He urged the public to stop fuelling unnecessary controversy over the late singer’s death, particularly through social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.
“You can never see Toluwani in the midst of jobless people. He had a good heart. He was a friend to everybody. He served the Lord with all his heart. Don’t turn Toluwani into Mohbad. That madness on TikTok and Instagram must stop. If you are jobless, go and look for a job,” Gbenjo said.

In the notice issued by their solicitors, Gemgold, the comedians warned members of the public against publishing or circulating allegations they described as false and defamatory against them.
The legal notice maintained that the allegations were baseless and intended to damage the reputations of the two entertainers.
