The seven-member CAF delegation wrapped up a two-day inspection on Wednesday, visiting key sites including the Remo Stars Sports Institute, FC Ebedei Stadium, Babcock University Teaching Hospital, and the Babcock University Guest House.
The visit is part of CAF’s selection process ahead of the continental youth tournament scheduled for April. Led by CAF safeguarding official Omar Amr, the team evaluated sporting infrastructure, medical services, accommodation, logistics, and security arrangements across the proposed host venues. Officials from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), along with representatives from the host institutions, accompanied the delegation throughout the inspection.
According to the NFF, the CAF inspectors were highly impressed with the facilities and their readiness to host the prestigious tournament.
“The inspectors minced no words in praising the facilities. One member even told the President of Remo Stars FC and proprietor of the Institute, Hon. Kunle Soname, that the facility is the best he has ever seen in West Africa,” the NFF stated.
Amr also briefed NFF officials and the management of Remo Stars Sports Institute on the scale of the upcoming finals, confirming that 24 teams are expected to compete. The tournament will feature eight boys’ teams, eight girls’ teams from across Africa, and eight invited teams from another FIFA confederation, making it the largest final phase since the competition’s launch in 2022.
The CAF African Schools Football Championship is an annual U-15 tournament aimed at nurturing young football talent while promoting education across Africa. It is supported by a $10 million investment from the foundation of CAF president Patrice Motsepe and includes zonal qualifiers leading to a continental grand finale.
Members of the inspection team included Fatima Elmissaoui, Herve Dassoundo, Mahmoud Amer, Diabate Zakarhiya, Hend Thabet, and WAFU B executive director Philippe Tchere. They were received by NFF officials Ademola Olajire and Abdulrafiu Yusuf, along with representatives from Beyond Limits Football Academy.
The previous edition of the finals was held in Accra, where Tanzania’s boys’ team and Ghana’s girls’ team claimed the titles. Winners of the championship receive up to $300,000 in infrastructural development support, while the programme also partners with organisations such as UNICEF and the World Health Organization to promote health awareness and education among young participants.

THE ULTIMATE SHOWDOWN: Fani-Kayode Dares US Firm To Drop Evidence On Tinubu’s Drug Allegations!
Nigerian High Commissioner to South Africa, Femi Fani-Kayode, has publicly challenged the US-based political advisory and lobbying firm Von Batten-Montague-York to substantiate claims linking President Bola Tinubu to historical drug trafficking. In a Saturday statement shared via his verified X account, Fani-Kayode addressed the 1993 civil forfeiture complaint filed by the US Department of Justice in the Northern District of Illinois, clarifying that the action targeted property rather than serving as a personal criminal conviction or a finding that Tinubu smuggled narcotics.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Emphasizing that being the subject of an investigation does not equate to an indictment, prosecution, or conviction, Fani-Kayode demanded that the firm produce explicit evidence and pinpoint where the US government or the DEA formally alleged that the President personally smuggled heroin. He reiterated that the 1993 filings and subsequent 2026 FBI declarations reflect a civil settlement over funds rather than proof of personal involvement, ultimately challenging the firm to back up its sweeping claims regarding institutional corruption.
