Sanusi Reveals Real Issue Fueling Child Marriage In Northern Nigeria.

Published

The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has attributed the persistence of child marriage in parts of northern Nigeria to government failure in providing adequate education and viable pathways for young girls after primary school.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Sanusi made the remarks on Wednesday during an appearance on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief, where he discussed issues surrounding culture, education and social reform.

He argued that public conversations often fixate on child marriage itself while overlooking the deeper structural problems that push families into such decisions.

According to the monarch, many girls complete primary education at an early age but are left with no access to secondary schools, vocational training or skills centres.

He explained that in the absence of further educational or economic opportunities, poor families are frequently motivated by fear and uncertainty about their daughters’ future rather than cultural preference.

Sanusi also criticised urban narratives that fail to reflect rural realities, noting that schools are often far away or completely unavailable, roads are unsafe and basic local government services are lacking.

“In many areas, there is only a primary school and nothing beyond that,” he said. “There is no secondary school, no skills centre, and no provision for what comes next in a girl’s life.”

‘No Four-Year Gamble’ – Okorocha Reveals Why South-East Should Support Tinubu.

Former Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has urged residents of the South-East to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in the 2027 general election.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

He said backing Tinubu would represent a strategic political alliance capable of creating future opportunities for the region.

reports that Okorocha made the appeal on Thursday during an appearance on Channels Television.

The former governor is currently involved in a legal dispute with his successor, Governor Hope Uzodimma, over the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for Imo West Senatorial District, with both politicians claiming victory in the party’s primary election.

The APC had submitted Uzodimma’s name to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as its candidate, prompting Okorocha to challenge the decision in court.

However, on Thursday, a Federal Capital Territory High Court ruled that Okorocha secured the majority of votes cast in the primary and should be recognised as the winner.

Reacting to the judgment, Okorocha expressed confidence that Tinubu would win Imo State in the 2027 presidential election if he emerged as the APC candidate for Imo West Senatorial District.

“What is important to me now is how Asiwaju will be elected in Imo State. With this, my name coming on the ballot paper now, Asiwaju can be sure that his victory is given in Imo State,” he said.

The former governor welcomed the court ruling, insisting that the judiciary was not for sale.

He also declared that Uzodimma had “met his Waterloo”, alleging that the court had established that the documents presented by the governor were forged.

‘Peter Obi Is A Fantastic Gentleman, But…’ – Okorocha Gives Reason South-East Must Back Tinubu.

Former Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has argued that the one-term presidency proposal by the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, is not in the best interest of the South-East.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Although he described Obi as a fantastic gentleman with a clear mind, Okorocha insisted that the Igbo people cannot afford to take what he called a four-year political gamble.

reports that Okorocha made the remarks during an interview on Channels Television on Thursday, following his victory at the Federal High Court over the authentic All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial ticket for Imo West.

“Obi is a fantastic gentleman, clear in his head. Oh, there’s nothing wrong with him. But we can’t gamble. We can’t do a four-year gamble this time,” he said.

Okorocha acknowledged that he had previously supported the idea of a single-term presidency but maintained that the prevailing political circumstances had changed.

The former governor argued that political alliances should be driven by strategic interests rather than emotions or sentiments.

“So we are supporting Tinubu, not on an emotional or sentimental basis, but for a strategic alliance,” he stated.

He explained that the political decisions made by the South-East, particularly in its quest to secure greater opportunities for an Igbo presidency in the future, could have significant consequences.

According to him, the region should negotiate political support based on its interests instead of taking a chance on a one-term presidential arrangement.

Okorocha also disclosed that he intended to engage political stakeholders on the issue, expressing confidence that they would listen to his position.

“I have not spoken to anybody, but I will speak, and they will hear me. They will listen to me,” he added.

‘Uzodimma Has Never Won An Election’ – Okorocha Makes Fresh Allegation Against Imo Governor.

Published

on

Former Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has accused Governor Hope Uzodimma of never winning an election legitimately, alleging that he relies on manipulated results to secure political victories.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

reports that Okorocha made the allegation during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday night, shortly after a Federal High Court in Abuja declared him the winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary for the Imo West Senatorial District.

The former governor claimed to have detailed knowledge of Uzodimma’s political history, adding that he would make the information public at the appropriate time.

“Hope has never won an election in his life. From the one that he got fourth position, and time will tell, I’ll give you the history. I have them at the tips of my fingers,” he said.

In its judgment delivered on Thursday, Justice Obiora Egwuatu ruled that Okorocha won the APC primary conducted on May 18 and restrained Uzodimma from presenting himself as the party’s candidate for the Imo West Senate seat.

The court also ordered the APC to forward Okorocha’s name to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), dealing a setback to the governor’s reported ambition to contest for the Senate in 2027.

Okorocha further alleged that Uzodimma’s approach to elections involved getting one person to write the results, claiming that the same method was used during the disputed APC primary.

“What Hope does is just get one person in one room to write all the results like he did in this primary now, which is what is in contestation,” he said.

When asked to substantiate the allegation, the former governor argued that the court’s ruling had supported his position.

“The court says so today, that all the results he presented was written by one person. Who wrote it? If it’s written in your favour, you must be aware of it,” he stated.

Okorocha also connected the alleged practice to Uzodimma’s emergence as Imo State governor, which followed a Supreme Court judgment.

“That same way, they wrote 388 votes by one person. But because the police adopted it and presented it to the court, and there was nobody who argued against that presentation of those 388, when he became governor from number four to number one, the hands of the judges were tied,” he said.

The former governor, however, maintained that the judiciary did not deliberately favour Uzodimma, arguing that the judges were constrained by the evidence and documents presented before them.

“So it’s not true that the judiciary in any way favoured Hope. But it was because the hands of judges were tied, based on the facts of documents provided, for which nobody argued,” Okorocha added.
