Inside Epstein’s Emails: Mentions Of Nigerian Women, Dangote, Nollywood, Business Deals.

Published

on

On January 30, 2026, the United States Department of Justice released more than three million pages of documents connected to late American financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, in what ranks among the largest disclosures in U.S. judicial history.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The materials—spanning nearly two decades—include emails, images, videos and investigative records tied to multiple federal and civil investigations into Epstein’s activities before his death in custody in August 2019.

The disclosure has reignited worldwide scrutiny of Epstein’s network, alleged facilitators and global connections, with several documents making references to Nigeria.

Who Was Jeffrey Epstein?

Epstein was an American financier whose social circle featured influential politicians, business executives, royalty and celebrities.

His private island, Little St. James in the U.S. Virgin Islands, became notorious following allegations of sexual abuse involving underage girls.

A 2005 investigation in Palm Beach identified dozens of victims, some reportedly as young as 14. Despite this, a controversial 2008 plea deal allowed Epstein to serve only 13 months in custody, avoiding federal prosecution.

Fresh investigations—sparked by a media exposé—led to his re-arrest in July 2019 on federal sex-trafficking charges. Epstein died by suicide in a Manhattan jail on August 10, 2019, aged 66, while awaiting trial.

Epstein And Nigerian Women

Several emails referenced Nigerian women in a disturbing and inappropriate manner.

One message made crude comments about Nigerian women and suggested they be selected for explicit purposes. Another email from an unnamed woman—who appeared to reference cosmetic enhancement—mentioned attending a lunch at the Italian embassy, expressing excitement about a Lagos-related social event.

In another exchange, Epstein requested personal details of an unnamed woman, discussing travel logistics and suggesting visits to Nigeria to observe tech startups, alongside a possible stop in Dubai.

Emails also showed Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s close associate later convicted of child sex trafficking, mentioning plans to visit Abuja. Another message from a woman identified as Nina K referenced a friend temporarily in Nigeria and shared her contact details with Epstein.

Links To Polio Eradication Efforts In Nigeria

Although never formally affiliated with the Bill Gates Foundation, Epstein appeared involved in discussions around the foundation’s polio eradication programme in Nigeria.

Email exchanges showed him receiving and commenting on reports about vaccination efforts and security challenges facing health workers in northern Nigeria.

In one message, Epstein relayed concerns allegedly attributed to Bill Gates regarding attacks on vaccinators. Other exchanges with international development figures discussed poverty, hunger and disease in developing countries.

Some emails also contained controversial remarks about public resistance to vaccination campaigns and strategies for gaining community consent.

Interest In Nollywood

One email proposed ideas to “professionalise” the African film industry, referencing Nollywood in dismissive terms and suggesting the establishment of a studio dubbed Somaliwood Studios.

Nollywood, Nigeria’s film industry, is globally recognised as the second-largest movie producer by volume, releasing thousands of films annually.

Business Dealings In Nigeria

The documents suggest Epstein was involved in or facilitated several business discussions linked to Nigeria.

One notable example involved talks around the acquisition of Bolloré Transport & Logistics Nigeria, discussed with Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, CEO of Dubai-based DP World, and Jide Zeitlin, a Nigerian-born investment adviser and former CEO of Tapestry Inc.

Emails detailed interest in developing port infrastructure in Badagry and Lekki, referencing stalled agreements and potential new concessions.

Other messages showed bin Sulayem boasting of meetings with Nigerian presidents, as well as former Lagos State Governor Akinwumi Ambode and former Transport Minister Rotimi Amaechi.

In another deal, Epstein appeared linked to the sale of a helicopter to a Nigerian buyer valued at about $1.8 million, though the buyer’s identity remains unclear.

An email from an American lawyer also referenced a suspicious oil-related proposal involving Nigeria and potential profits from sales to China.

Tech And Investment Contacts

Another email exchange appeared to involve Cecilia Varendh Mansson, CEO of TalentUp Africa, a Lagos-based startup connecting African tech talent with global opportunities.

Mansson shared a presentation while seeking $670,000 in seed funding, requesting advice and a possible meeting. It remains unclear whether Epstein invested in the company.

The Dangote Connection

Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, chairman of the Dangote Group, was also mentioned in the released files.

Emails showed Epstein’s associate, Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, sharing photographs taken with Dangote, with subject lines highlighting Dangote’s status as Nigeria’s wealthiest individual.

Bin Sulayem and Epstein reportedly maintained a close relationship over several years and were involved in business interests connected to Nigeria.

Other References To Nigeria

Additional emails suggested Epstein pledged $1 million to support activities of the International Peace Institute in Nigeria.

In a separate message, Epstein made derogatory remarks about Nigerians. Another email from an associate described the challenges of doing business in Nigeria, citing “many competing interests,” while noting ongoing negotiations viewed as progressing positively.

FERMA’s South-East 2 Zonal Director, Suleiman Mohammed Omonowo, issued the warning during an inspection of the project, cautioning against the burning of tyres during celebrations, which he said could damage the road surface.

He noted that destructive practices by some youths and community members often contribute to the early failure of road projects across the country.

“Our advice to road users, especially indigenes, is to protect the road from destruction. Let nobody come and destroy it or burn tyres in the name of celebration,” he said.

Omonowo said the Aba–Azumini highway was previously in a very bad condition before FERMA intervened, describing it as a death trap for commuters and residents.

He also expressed satisfaction with the quality of work done on the project, adding that drainage structures such as catch pits would help prevent flooding and extend the lifespan of the road.

According to him, the highway serves as a major link between Aba, several Abia communities, and Cross River State, carrying heavy traffic daily.

He urged local construction firms to improve on quality delivery to compete effectively with foreign contractors.

Meanwhile, the Federal Roads Maintenance Engineer in Abia State, Festus Okafor, said FERMA workers have not faced harassment or violence from residents during operations in the state.

Court Orders UI To Reinstate Students Suspended Over Fee Hike Protest.

Published

on

The Federal High Court sitting in Ibadan, Oyo State, has ordered the University of Ibadan (UI) to reinstate three students suspended over their participation in a protest against tuition fee hikes.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Delivering judgment on Wednesday, Justice Nkeonye Maha set aside the decision of the university’s Central Student Disciplinary Committee, ruling that the students were denied fair hearing during the disciplinary process.

The court held that the failure to allow the students call witnesses and present evidence violated their constitutional right to fair hearing, rendering the sanctions against them invalid.

The affected students — Aduwo Ayodele, Mide Gbadegesin, and Nice Linus — were suspended on July 14, 2025, after taking part in a protest against increased school fees approved by the university’s governing council.

Dissatisfied with the suspension, they approached the court, arguing that the disciplinary proceedings breached their fundamental rights and due process.

They asked the court to quash the suspension, reinstate their studentship, and award damages for alleged rights violations.

In her ruling, Justice Maha agreed with their arguments, stating that the university’s actions failed to meet the standards of natural justice.

Following the judgment, rights group CAPPA hailed the decision, urging the university to comply fully, reinstate the students, and issue an apology.

The group said the ruling reinforces constitutional protections for freedom of expression and serves as a warning against the suppression of student protests in tertiary institutions.
