“Nigerian Government Launches New Pension Self-Service Platform – CPS”

Published

on

The Nigerian government, through the National Pension Commission (PenCom), has announced the launch of a self-service online data recapture platform, the Data Recapture Self-Service Platform (PENCAP), set to go live on 1 February 2026.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

PenCom stated on Friday that the platform will allow Retirement Savings Account (RSA) holders to update their personal information remotely, eliminating the need to visit their Pension Fund Administrators (PFAs) in person.

The initiative targets RSA holders who joined the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) on or before 1 July 2019 and have not yet completed the data recapture process.

According to PenCom, the move is part of ongoing efforts to enhance data integrity, modernize pension administration, and improve service delivery through digital solutions.

Why the Data Recapture Is Needed

Accurate and up-to-date data is crucial for the smooth administration of retirement savings under the CPS. Legacy records and incomplete documentation have created challenges in verification and benefit processing.

PENCAP provides a secure, convenient channel for contributors to recapture their data, ensuring:

  • Faster verification and benefit processing

  • Smoother participation in the Retiree Enrollment and Verification Exercise

  • Access to key pension services, including:

    • Retirement benefits

    • Partial RSA withdrawals for residential mortgages

    • Withdrawals due to temporary job loss

    • RSA transfers between PFAs

PenCom warned that RSA holders who fail to complete the data recapture process will be unable to access these services.

Reacting, Wike said investigations have already been launched into the matter and directed his Chief of Staff to identify any staff member involved in the alleged interference.

He stated: “We will not allow people to just wake up and say the FCT Minister did this or that. I have told my Chief of Staff to find out from the company which staff member interfered. We will get to the bottom of this.”

Meanwhile, Wike also commented on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s political ambitions, saying he would have to wait until 2031 to contest for the presidency.

He said there is “no space” for Atiku in 2027, adding that he could try again in 2031 when he would be 82 years old.

Wike made the remarks during an inspection of ongoing road projects in Kuje Area Council on Thursday, while also criticising Atiku’s repeated attacks on the current administration and insisting that President Bola Tinubu has performed better than previous leadership.
