Kebbi Government Releases ₦1.8bn To Settle Retirees’ Gratuities, Death Benefits.
Kebbi State Government has approved over ₦1.8 billion for the payment of gratuities, death benefits, and other pending entitlements for retirees, contract staff, and families of deceased civil servants.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The announcement was made on Wednesday by the Head of Service, Malami Shekare, in a statement signed by the Director of Administration, Rashidu Muhammad-Bala.
The funds were released in two phases: the first phase (March 16–June 15, 2025) disbursed ₦933.03 million to 404 beneficiaries, while the second phase (June 16–September 15, 2025) saw ₦932.95 million paid to 443 beneficiaries.
Recipients include civil service personnel, local government staff, education authority workers, contract employees, and dependents of deceased public servants.
The government highlighted that the payments address long-standing delays in retirement benefits, which have affected retirees nationwide due to economic and fiscal challenges. Kebbi State has also been managing pension and gratuity backlogs accumulated over several years.
Ahmed Idris, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, said the approval aims to reduce arrears and ease financial pressure on retirees and families of deceased workers in the state.
