Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has claimed that Governor Sim Fubara would be showing weakness if Wike were controlling the Rivers State House of Assembly.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Olayinka made the remarks during an appearance on Channels Television’s Morning Brief, stating that a governor who allows another person to dominate the political structure in their state is politically weak.

He said:

“There are things I will not say on this station. I know this political game very well; I have been in it for a long time. What people say on television is often very different from what happens behind closed doors. The same applies to Rivers. The governor knows the reality.

“If I am a minister and I can control your House of Assembly, then there is a problem—you are weak. If I am in Abuja controlling 27 members of your House and you only have three loyal ones who no longer attend sessions, then clearly, I am the one in control. You should acknowledge that.

“If Wike is controlling the political structure and you are the governor, the wise thing would be for him to come and seek amends. If a governor cannot manage any structure in his own state, it shows that someone else is politically stronger than him.”

Olayinka’s comments underscore his view that Fubara’s inability to control the Rivers Assembly would reflect poorly on his leadership and political strength.

The party was reacting to claims by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which accused the state government of attempting to revisit a concluded case for political reasons.

In a statement on Saturday, APC Publicity Secretary Abdulwaheed Babatunde dismissed the allegations, calling them baseless and insisting that the matter remains a legal issue, not a political one.

He said neither Saraki nor the PDP should be alarmed if they have nothing to hide, adding that the judiciary will rely only on evidence and facts in reaching a decision.

Babatunde also urged Saraki to allow the legal process to take its course instead of engaging in public arguments, stressing that no one is above the law.

The APC further defended the move to pursue justice in the case, saying it is the government’s responsibility to ensure accountability and fairness for victims.

It accused the PDP of politicising the matter, while maintaining that the current administration remains focused on governance and development projects in the state.
