“‘We’ve Met 10 Of Your 14 Demands’ – Wike Speaks to FCTA Striking Workers”

Wike noted that while the workers submitted 14 demands, the government has already addressed 10 and is working on the remaining requests. He made the remarks during a press briefing at his Abuja office on Tuesday.
“If you are requesting 40 things and the government has fulfilled 10, there should be room to give us some time,” Wike said.
“Everyone—security, administration—has engaged with them, and we have said there is more to be done. This isn’t my first time dealing with such issues; I served as governor of Rivers State for eight years.
“When workers have legitimate demands, the administration assesses what can be implemented immediately. If full implementation is difficult, we start with what’s possible and request patience while payments are processed.
“No one should think the government will deny wages due. That’s why people sometimes don’t tell the full truth. Over five billion naira is involved, but with the acting Head of Service and Permanent Secretary in place, we plan to pay December, January, and, by God’s grace, February soon.”
