Sowore referenced the government’s attempt to imprison Nnamdi Kanu in October 2025, arguing that efforts to suppress the movement only amplified calls for justice. He insisted that shutting markets cannot quell a legitimate cause.

On social media, Sowore wrote:
“Last October, when attempts were made to jail Mazi Nnamdi Kanu by any means, we raised urgent calls for Southeast leaders to take a stand. All we got was silence. Many assumed imprisoning @nnamdikanu would end the agitation for Biafra. Today, they know better. Repression never defeats a just cause. As for Anambra Governor @CCSoludo, he can shut down every market, but nothing will change until justice is done.”

His comments follow Soludo’s order to temporarily close markets in the Onitsha area to enforce compliance with state directives and discourage sit-at-home activities.
