In a statement released on January 26, 2026, and signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the APC said reports suggesting Shettima could be dropped are false, misleading, and unfounded.
The party noted that it has seen increasing media speculation about potential replacements, but emphasized that there is no internal discussion about changing the current presidential ticket. It accused the rumours of being spread by individuals seeking to create tension and confusion.
The APC warned media organisations against giving attention to unverified sources and highlighted that political activities ahead of the 2027 election are not permitted under current laws and electoral regulations.
The statement stressed that the party remains focused on supporting President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima in implementing the Renewed Hope agenda and driving reforms to improve Nigeria’s economy and citizens’ lives.
Finally, the APC advised ministers, senior officials, and party leaders to refrain from making statements that could fuel speculation about the next election and instead concentrate on their official duties and supporting government programmes.
