The former governor expressed gratitude to his supporters for standing by him during what he described as a challenging period.

“This afternoon, I was honoured to receive a solidarity visit at my residence in Kano from the resilient people of Nasarawa Local Government,” he said.

‘JUST A TRAP’: Shehu Sani Tears Into Atiku Over Controversial Subsidy Reversal Promises.

Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has criticized the presidential ambition and policy proposals of African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate Atiku Abubakar, dismissing his pledge to reintroduce fuel subsidies as a tactical move to secure votes ahead of upcoming electoral contests.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Former Senator Shehu Sani, who represented Kaduna Central, characterized the proposal by the African Democratic Congress presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, to reinstate the fuel subsidy as a strategic maneuver designed to secure votes for upcoming electoral contests. Elaborating on his position during a briefing in Abuja, Sani argued that the policy reversal stands in stark contrast to Atiku’s long-standing adherence to neoclassical economic frameworks, including structural policies historically advocated by international financial institutions such as the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. Throughout previous political cycles, Atiku consistently endorsed market-driven reforms, currency adjustments, and the privatization of state-owned enterprises, making his current pledge to restore subsidies a contentious point among political analysts.

Sani further emphasized that implementing such a reversal would present severe logistical and financial challenges, recalling that past subsidy regimes involved massive fiscal expenditures and were frequently exploited by corrupt intermediaries who diverted hundreds of billions of naira from public reserves through fraudulent petroleum import claims. While acknowledging that the current removal of subsidies has imposed considerable economic strain and heightened the cost of living for ordinary citizens, Sani maintained that returning to the previous system is practically unviable given Nigeria’s fiscal realities and the systemic vulnerabilities that plagued past subsidy administrations.

‘NOT ON OUR LAND’: Benue Governor Draws The Line Against Federal Grazing Directives.

Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has assured residents of the state that the Federal Government will not force the state or its people to accept cattle ranching against their wishes.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The governor made the clarification while speaking about the Federal Government’s planned pilot ranching programme in Benue.

He said the people of Benue had already expressed their position on ranching, and his administration remained committed to protecting their interests, maintaining peace and ensuring that government programmes reflected the wishes of residents.

“The Federal Government is not forcing the state to have cow ranching. Nobody is forcing anything on anybody at any stage of this,” he said.

The clarification comes amid public interest in the Federal Government’s announcement of a pilot ranching programme and questions over what the initiative could mean for communities and livestock production in Benue.

Alia also sought to clarify the interpretation of the term “ranching”, saying it should not automatically be understood to mean cattle ranching.

He pointed out that Benue has other livestock, including goats and sheep, which could also be developed as economic opportunities.

Alia suggested that the proposed programme should be understood within a broader livestock-development context rather than being automatically equated with the establishment of cattle ranches.

He urged residents to seek clarification from relevant authorities before reacting to government announcements.

Alia warned that acting on assumptions or spreading information without understanding the context could create unnecessary tension, particularly on an issue that has generated strong public interest in the state.

“This is a people-oriented government, and everything we are doing must be people-directed,” he said.

The “Shadow Government” List: Utomi later proposed providing a list of seven capable Nigerians across the country who could contribute to the administration. He handed the list to Stephen Oronsaye, a former Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, to deliver to the president.

An Untimely Illness: Unfortunately, Yar’Adua fell ill around that period and traveled abroad for medical treatment, leaving uncertainty over whether the list ever reached him before his passing on May 5, 2010.
