Anambra ADC Chairman Confirms Massive Influx Into Party Since Peter Obi’s Entry.
The Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Anambra State, Mr. Patrick Obianyo, has confirmed a significant surge in membership since former Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, joined the party on December 31.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Obianyo made the disclosure on Saturday during a political event organized to officially receive Hon. Barr. Lawrence Ezeudu, a former member and Chief Whip of the Anambra State House of Assembly, along with over 200 of his supporters.
Speaking at the event held at Ezeudu’s residence in Ifitedunu, Dunukofia Local Government Area, Obianyo said party officials have been overwhelmed by the continuous flow of new members.
“There have been daily requests for our officials to meet and welcome politicians into the party since Peter Obi joined. Today, we are here in Ifitedunu to receive Hon. Barr. Lawrence Ezeudu, and tomorrow we will be at another location. This has been ongoing for over a month,” he said.
He encouraged new members to visit their local wards to register in person, emphasizing that physical registration ensures proper recognition within the party.
“Although our membership cards are being issued rapidly due to the influx of new members, we plan to conduct a membership revalidation soon and introduce improved card features. Even if all 200 million Nigerians join, we will have enough cards for everyone,” Obianyo added.
Ezeudu, who formally joined the ADC at the event, described the moment as a personal and political milestone. He highlighted the urgency he felt to join a party committed to change.
“Today is like a Pentecost for me and my supporters because we have been baptized into the ADC,” he said. “I have never felt a stronger need to join a political party than I do today. It is clear that the APC has failed us, and we must act to save the country. We in the ADC are determined to bring change, and after studying the nation’s configuration, I am confident a new Nigeria is still possible. That is why I am joining the ADC to be part of this transformation.”
The defection event was attended by prominent ADC members, including the party’s deputy governorship candidate from last year’s election, Dr. Ndubuisi Nwobu, as well as senior party figures like Prof. Chinyere Okunna and Dr. Chris Asoukwu.
