‘I Don’t See Any ADC Leader As A Major Player’ — Nwajiuba.
Former Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, has said he does not consider any politician a “heavyweight” at present.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Speaking on Arise Television on Thursday, Nwajiuba noted that many political figures are still adjusting to a new political landscape. He explained that most politicians in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) left their original parties and are now navigating a fresh playing field.
“To be honest, I don’t consider anybody a political heavyweight right now, because everyone is just someone who has left their previous party to come into this new arena,” he said.
However, he stressed that the ADC is composed of credible leaders with public trust.
“The ADC includes very important men and women who have earned public trust and recognition. They are celebrated figures,” he added.
Nwajiuba cited Atiku Abubakar as an example, praising his leadership of Nigeria’s privatisation programme:
“When Atiku ran the privatisation scheme, it was decent. When others took over, it wasn’t. The difference was clear—like daylight. These are people you can trust.”
He also mentioned former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, describing him as “my friend who served in the cabinet,” and spoke positively about Peter Obi:
“There is my elder brother, Peter Obi, who joined us at the end of December. He has been part of the coalition all along.”
Reflecting on the 2023 elections and youth support for Obi, Nwajiuba said:
“As young people, we backed him in 2023. He was clearly a Labour Party candidate, but because the country needs all shades of ideals and all types of people, we must come together.”
He concluded by urging broader participation across political lines:
“Everyone should express interest. Inclusive collaboration is essential to move Nigeria forward.”
