“ADC Suspends Nasarawa Chairman Over Alleged Anti-Party Activities”.
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Nasarawa State has suspended its Chairman, Godwin Alaku Williams, over alleged anti-party activities said to be undermining the unity and growth of the party in the state.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Naija News reports that the suspension was announced by the party’s Transitional Leadership Team (TLT) following a petition accusing Williams of actions contrary to the interests of the ADC in Nasarawa.
The decision was made during a TLT meeting held on Wednesday at Otunsha Hotel, Keffi, under the leadership of Chief John Michael Abdul.
Confirming the development, the party’s spokesperson, Comrade Idris Ojoko, said the suspension will last 14 days, pending the outcome of investigations by a disciplinary committee.
“The suspension is to allow for a thorough investigation into the allegations levelled against the state chairman,” Ojoko said.
Following the suspension, the party announced changes in its state leadership. Barrister Paul Magaji Ajeh, a former State Secretary, has been appointed Acting State Chairman, while Umar A. Babayaro will serve as Acting Secretary. The appointments were made to ensure administrative continuity and stability during the investigation period.
According to the party, Williams is accused of multiple acts of anti-party conduct, including his alleged refusal to recognise the National Working Committee (NWC) led by Senator David Mark and failing to integrate coalition members into the party’s Nasarawa structure, contrary to directives from the national leadership.
Ojoko also alleged that Williams reported some party leaders to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigeria Police, labelling them impostors. Additionally, he is accused of establishing parallel party structures across the state and obstructing the creation of ADC offices at the state, local government, and ward levels.
The party further claimed that Williams interfered with the ongoing membership registration and revalidation exercise, a key initiative aimed at strengthening the party’s grassroots presence ahead of future elections.
To investigate the allegations, the TLT has set up a disciplinary committee chaired by Barrister Hassan Yakubu, with members Amina Zanwa, Mamman Sunday, and Yunus Abdullahi Sidi, and Gaza Mark Auta serving as Secretary. The committee has been tasked with conducting a transparent investigation and submitting its findings within the suspension period.
The ADC leadership urged party members in Nasarawa State to remain calm and law-abiding, emphasizing that the disciplinary process is intended to reinforce internal democracy and unity.

Atiku Opens Up On ADC 2027 Game Plan, Says Consensus Candidate Comes First.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will first pursue a consensus arrangement before considering a primary election for its 2027 presidential ticket.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Atiku made this known during an interview on Arise Television on Wednesday while discussing the party’s leadership and strategy ahead of the next general election.
He said he is open to backing a consensus candidate if that becomes the party’s collective decision, stressing that such support should not be interpreted as stepping aside.
“It is not about stepping aside, but whether I am willing to support, and yes, I will,” Atiku said.
According to him, the ADC’s first priority is to build internal unity and reach an agreement among stakeholders before considering a competitive primary process.
“Our first option will be to work out a consensus. If that doesn’t happen, then of course we will explore other options. And yes, I will support whoever eventually emerges,” he stated.
Atiku also expressed confidence in the political experience within the party, saying he believes a consensus is achievable and may make a full-scale primary contest unnecessary.
“That remains our preferred path. We will go for primaries if consensus fails, but I honestly do not expect it to get to that stage because we are dealing with mature and experienced politicians,” he added.
His comments come amid growing political consultations and coalition talks as parties begin to position themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
