The WEF meeting, scheduled from January 19 to 23, 2026, is set to bring together world leaders, top policymakers, industry captains, and global investors to discuss pressing economic and technological challenges.
Shettima arrived in Davos from Conakry, Guinea, where he represented President Tinubu at the inauguration of Guinea’s President, Mamadi Doumbouya, on Saturday. On arrival, he was welcomed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, the Minister of Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, and officials from the Nigerian Mission in Switzerland.
This year’s forum marks the official debut of “Nigeria House Davos,” a dedicated sovereign pavilion established by the Federal Government for the first time on the Davos Promenade. Developed through a Public-Private Partnership, the pavilion serves as a permanent hub for ministerial engagements, investment roundtables, and cultural diplomacy throughout the week-long event.
Nigeria House is designed to provide a focused platform to showcase the country’s reform agenda and investment potential to global decision-makers. During the forum, Vice President Shettima is expected to present Nigeria’s 2026 economic outlook to influential political and business leaders. He will also participate in key plenary sessions on emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, quantum computing, and biotechnology.
Officials note that Shettima will use the opportunity to highlight Nigeria’s commitment to innovation-driven growth and inclusive development. Throughout the week, he is scheduled for bilateral meetings with heads of state, CEOs of multinational corporations, and leaders of international development finance institutions to deepen strategic partnerships aligned with the Tinubu administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly in investment, technology transfer, and sustainable development.
Speaking after the Vice President’s arrival, Minister of Trade and Investment Jumoke Oduwole said Nigeria would make a compelling case to global investors during the launch of Nigeria House.
“We will showcase four playbooks highlighting President Tinubu’s efforts in re-engineering the Nigerian economy,” she said. “These presentations will highlight sectors with high growth potential, including solid minerals, climate sustainability, agriculture, as well as creative and digital industries, targeting investors from across the globe.”
