‘Bandits Have Done Worse Than Nnamdi Kanu’ – Adeyanju Blasts FG Over Terrorist Pardons.

Human rights activist and Convener of Concerned Nigerians, Deji Adeyanju, has warned that the Federal Government’s ongoing negotiations, payments and forgiveness of bandits and terrorists amount to indirect sponsorship of terrorism.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a statement issued on Monday, Adeyanju argued that terrorism and banditry cannot be resolved through dialogue, insisting that such criminals do not genuinely repent and pose a grave danger to national security.

He stressed that those involved in terrorism and banditry should be arrested, prosecuted and jailed, rather than being welcomed by government officials or rewarded with concessions.

According to Adeyanju, appeasing terrorists sends a dangerous signal that taking up arms, killing citizens and destabilising the country can attract rewards, a development he said would only fuel further criminality.

He also maintained that some of the terrorists currently being engaged by the government have committed crimes far worse than those attributed to the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

“The continued negotiation, payment, forgiveness and appeasement of bandits and terrorists by the government amount to indirect financing of terrorism,” he said.

“Terrorists do not repent, and banditry is not a misunderstanding that can be resolved at negotiation tables. These are criminals who should be arrested, prosecuted and imprisoned, not hosted in Government Houses or compensated.

“Forgiving terrorists is alien to any serious state. It sets a dangerous precedent and sends the message that killing citizens and destabilising the country pays.

“This approach emboldens others to take up arms, knowing the government will eventually negotiate, compensate and plead with them.

“Some of these terrorists have committed far worse crimes than Nnamdi Kanu, who, regardless of allegations of incitement, did not physically kill anyone.

“Yet thousands of Nigerians have been killed by terrorists who are now being embraced by the government. This undermines justice and threatens the foundation of national security in the long run.”
