Earlier on Friday, four lawmakers who had previously withdrawn from the impeachment process held a press conference, accusing the governor of violating the 1999 Constitution and asserting that the legislature had no option but to exercise its power to remove him from office.

They further alleged that Fubara engaged in blackmail and lacked the trust necessary to resolve the crisis in the state. According to the lawmakers, the governor and his deputy have demonstrated through their actions that they are not interested in a peace process but aim to intimidate the Assembly into halting the impeachment while continuing acts of impunity.

He warned against dragging the state into fresh tension, accusing the state government of attempting to revive old allegations for political advantage.

Adewara said the PDP would not remain silent while what he called “political narratives” are used to influence public perception around a tragic incident that claimed multiple lives in Offa in 2018.
