“Father Seeks Justice After Kinsman Kills His Twin Sons in Imo”.
Mr. John Maduakolam, a resident of Ukwugba Obiakpu Autonomous Community in Ohaji-Egbema LGA, Imo State, has called for justice following the alleged murders of his twin sons, Ebube and Izuchukwu, and their cousin, Opara, by a kinsman, Sixtus Chinenye Odinaka.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Maduakolam told journalists at the NUJ Press Centre in Owerri that the attacks, which occurred between February and September 2025, have left his family living in fear, as Sixtus and his accomplices remain at large, threatening the community.
He explained that the conflict arose after the discovery of oil wells in Ukwugba, with his family holding a larger share of the land. According to Maduakolam, Sixtus, who had positioned himself as a representative of the community, allegedly misappropriated funds from the oil company without accountability.
“Because of his aggressive behavior, no one dares confront him, and he has used this influence to instill fear across the community with his gang,” Maduakolam said. “He warned me and my sons that we were the only ones standing in his way, and if we didn’t yield, we would be targeted next.”
The father recounted that on February 7, 2025, Sixtus and his gang attacked his home around 2:00 a.m., killing one of his twin sons, Izuchukwu. He added that Sixtus threatened that his second son, Ebube, would be killed if his family continued to demand accountability.
Despite reporting the matter to the police, who declared Sixtus wanted and published his details in newspapers, tragedy struck again. In the early hours of September 12, 2025, Sixtus and his gang allegedly returned to Maduakolam’s home, killing his second twin son, Ebube Jacob Maduakolam, in a brutal attack.
Mrs. Chinweudo Opara, another victim, described how her husband, Opara Abacha, was killed on the same day. She said he was shot while stepping outside, and she was subsequently attacked by masked men and left hospitalized after the assault.
The victims commended the Nigeria Police for arresting Sixtus, who was reportedly apprehended in Cross River State while attempting to flee to Cameroon. They urged authorities to pursue his accomplices, who remain at large, and called for justice to ensure that Sixtus is prosecuted in a court of competent jurisdiction for the alleged crimes.

Atiku Opens Up On ADC 2027 Game Plan, Says Consensus Candidate Comes First.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will first pursue a consensus arrangement before considering a primary election for its 2027 presidential ticket.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Atiku made this known during an interview on Arise Television on Wednesday while discussing the party’s leadership and strategy ahead of the next general election.
He said he is open to backing a consensus candidate if that becomes the party’s collective decision, stressing that such support should not be interpreted as stepping aside.
“It is not about stepping aside, but whether I am willing to support, and yes, I will,” Atiku said.
According to him, the ADC’s first priority is to build internal unity and reach an agreement among stakeholders before considering a competitive primary process.
“Our first option will be to work out a consensus. If that doesn’t happen, then of course we will explore other options. And yes, I will support whoever eventually emerges,” he stated.
Atiku also expressed confidence in the political experience within the party, saying he believes a consensus is achievable and may make a full-scale primary contest unnecessary.
“That remains our preferred path. We will go for primaries if consensus fails, but I honestly do not expect it to get to that stage because we are dealing with mature and experienced politicians,” he added.
His comments come amid growing political consultations and coalition talks as parties begin to position themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
