According to Nivo News, Super Eagles head coach Éric Chelle has charged his players to summon their deepest reserves of strength and focus as Nigeria prepares to confront tournament hosts Morocco in the semi-final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations on Wednesday at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The three-time African champions have enjoyed an impressive run at the competition, recording a 3-2 victory over Tunisia in the group stage before dispatching Algeria 2-0 in the quarter-finals. Despite the team’s strong performances, Chelle has cautioned against complacency, stressing that the semi-final encounter will demand maximum commitment.

Speaking to journalists ahead of the crucial tie, the Nigerian coach acknowledged the physical and mental strain caused by a tight travel schedule but insisted that professionalism leaves no room for excuses. He emphasised that the players must remain mentally prepared and ready to deliver their best performance regardless of the challenges.

Although Nigeria boasts a perfect record of five wins from five matches, the Super Eagles are expected to face a stern test against an unbeaten Moroccan side backed by a fervent home crowd and several players who featured in the team that reached the semi-finals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Chelle described Morocco as the toughest challenge yet, noting that every match at the tournament carries immense pressure due to high expectations. He maintained that his squad approaches each game with the mindset of playing as though it were their last, vowing that the team would give everything once again.

The coach also highlighted concerns over player fatigue following recent travel between Marrakech, Fès and Rabat, suggesting that Nigeria may adopt a more measured tactical approach by allowing Morocco to dominate possession before striking on the counter.

Nigeria will be without captain Wilfred Ndidi, who is suspended after receiving a second yellow card in the knockout stage against Algeria. Chelle expressed disappointment over the absence of the influential midfielder but voiced confidence in the depth of his squad to cope with the setback.

Raphael Onyedika is expected to step in as Ndidi’s replacement, with the Club Brugge midfielder already making a strong impact during the tournament, including scoring two goals, a contribution that has boosted confidence among fans and the technical crew.
