NNPP Bars Kwankwaso From 2027 Presidential Race Over ‘Anti-Party’ Disputes.
The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has announced that Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, will not be allowed to contest the 2027 presidential election on its platform. According to Nivo News, the declaration was made by the party’s National Secretary, Ogini Olaposi, in Lagos on Sunday, January 11, emphasizing that the 2027 ticket will be open to all qualified party members.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Olaposi explained that Kwankwaso’s disqualification stems from unresolved disagreements between the NNPP and the Kwankwasiyya Movement, which severed ties with the party after the 2023 elections. He added that anti-party activities by some members of the movement following the polls led to the expulsion of key figures, including Kwankwaso.
The NNPP national secretary noted that the party already has several aspiring presidential candidates for 2027, including two Nigerians in the diaspora, and remains open to alliances with other parties that share similar ideologies. Reacting to Kwankwaso’s claim that any party he joins must offer him a presidential ticket, Olaposi dismissed it as unrealistic, describing the assertion as “laughable.”
Olaposi further stated that Kwankwaso lacks nationwide appeal compared to President Bola Tinubu and that his political influence in Kano State has significantly declined, with many key figures from the Kwankwasiyya Movement defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC). He emphasized that the APC’s strength for the 2027 elections will be driven by performance rather than personal influence.
The NNPP also warned political parties seeking alliances to engage only with its National Working Committee, which is the sole body legally recognized to make such decisions. Kwankwaso and his group, being expelled, cannot negotiate on behalf of the party.
The announcement comes amid speculation that Kwankwaso and other politicians may be courted by the African Democratic Congress, following his recent statement in Kano that he is willing to join any opposition coalition offering him the presidential or vice-presidential ticket.

Political Earthquake: Ex-Minister Pantami Stuns APC With Surprise Endorsement Of PDP’s Tenure!.
Isa Pantami, who served as the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy during the Muhammadu Buhari administration, has defended his recent move to become the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for Gombe State. Despite his history as a vocal critic of the PDP, Pantami explained that his decision was motivated by the party’s development track record in the state between 2003 and 2019. He noted that the party’s governance was responsible for transforming Gombe from a rural environment into urban settlements, citing various road networks, health facilities, and higher education institutions as evidence of this legacy.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Pantami secured the PDP governorship ticket via a voice vote just days after leaving the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). His departure from the APC followed his rejection of a consensus candidate arrangement supported by Governor Inuwa Yahaya. His new candidacy, which is reportedly linked to the influence of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and former Gombe Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo, has faced backlash and protests from other PDP aspirants who opposed the selection process.
Proposed Policy Agenda
Looking toward the future, Pantami stated that his administration would prioritize human development and aim to improve living conditions in Gombe. He expressed alarm over the state’s economic status, referencing the National Multidimensional Poverty Index which ranks Gombe as the third-poorest state in the country. To address this, he proposed the following initiatives:
-
Economic Reform: Implementing strategies to lift residents out of poverty through industrialization, agriculture, and attracting foreign direct investment.
-
Youth and Education: Focusing on education and skills development to create jobs for the youth.
-
Social Welfare: Launching state-sponsored welfare programs specifically designed to support orphans and vulnerable groups.
Pantami’s sudden defection and nomination are anticipated to significantly alter the political landscape in Gombe as the 2027 election approaches.
