Lawyer Says Nnamdi Kanu’s Legal Case Isn’t Comparable To Maduro’s.
According to Nivo News, Aloy Ejimakor, lawyer to the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has clarified that the legal context of Kanu’s case is fundamentally different from that of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. Ejimakor made the remarks in a post on his social media account while responding to comparisons between the two situations.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Ejimakor explained that Maduro’s case is governed by international law relating to acts of war, describing the Venezuelan leader as an “alien enemy” who was lawfully captured within that framework. In contrast, he said, Kanu is a private citizen whose arrest and transfer to Nigeria were conducted through what he termed an illegal rendition, arguing that it constituted criminal conduct by a state rather than a lawful apprehension.
He emphasised that, under legal principles, the two cases cannot be equated, noting that Kanu’s circumstances raise significant questions over due process and the rule of law. Ejimakor’s comments highlight ongoing legal and human rights debates surrounding Kanu’s detention and trial, which have drawn both national and international attention.
Kanu was recently sentenced to life imprisonment on terrorism-related charges brought by the Nigerian government, a ruling his legal team is expected to challenge in higher courts.
