Tinubu Declared Winner As Rivers Crisis Between Wike And Fubara Escalates.
The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has identified President Bola Tinubu as the key beneficiary of the escalating political standoff between the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara. According to Nivo News, CUPP described the crisis in Rivers as a deliberate political maneuver, framing the state as a strategic offering to the Presidency.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
CUPP noted that Wike and Fubara, driven by personal ambitions and the pursuit of patronage, have sacrificed responsible governance in a rivalry that prioritizes loyalty to the President over the welfare of the citizens. In a statement by its National Secretary, High Chief Peter Ameh, the coalition said the ordinary people of Rivers remain the true victims, as their peace, prosperity, and democratic rights are jeopardized by the leaders’ power struggle.
The opposition group pointed out that interventions, including peace accords and a state of emergency brokered by the Presidency, have effectively strengthened federal control over the state. “President Tinubu is the winner in the battle between Wike and Fubara. Both will be asking, ‘How high?’ whenever Tinubu tells them to jump,” Chief Ameh stated.
CUPP argued that while the conflict appears to be between Wike and Fubara, both leaders are now firmly under the influence of the federal government, curtailing independent political maneuvering in the oil-rich state. The coalition warned that the real losers are the people of Rivers, whose governance has been disrupted and whose resources have been diverted from development to political infighting.
The group urged Rivers residents to stay vigilant, demand accountable leadership, and prioritize issue-based politics that focus on public welfare over individual ambitions. CUPP also reiterated its commitment to defending democracy and the rule of law nationwide, cautioning that unchecked federal interference in state affairs could set a dangerous precedent for Nigeria’s federal system.
