Rivers Assembly Rejects Claims Of Wike’s Role In Fubara Impeachment.
The Rivers State House of Assembly has dismissed claims that the ongoing impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara are being influenced by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
According to Nivo News, the Assembly’s spokesperson, Enemi George, in an interview with Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday, stressed that lawmakers are acting strictly within the boundaries of the Constitution. He denied any political interference, emphasising that the process is guided by legal obligations rather than individual interests.
Addressing speculation about Wike’s alleged involvement, George said, “Mixing politics with constitutional responsibilities would be dangerous.” He maintained that the House should not be reduced to the whims of any politician, describing claims of Wike’s influence as unfair and disrespectful to the legislature.
George likened attempts to conflate politics and constitutional duties to “pouring oil into water,” noting that such combinations only lead to trouble. While acknowledging his personal political alignment with Wike, he clarified that his role is solely as a spokesperson for the House, insisting it is inappropriate to reduce the actions of a constitutionally established institution to mere politics.
When asked whether political intervention could halt the impeachment process, George stated firmly that no political solution would interfere, reiterating the Assembly’s commitment to following due process. “Right now, what we’re talking about is the law,” he added, stressing that the Assembly’s focus remains on legal issues rather than political manoeuvres.
George also questioned the necessity of political remedies for repeated breaches by the governor, describing Fubara as a recidivist whose repeated actions cannot be addressed merely through political negotiation.

“BOMBSHELL REVELATION: Why The SGF Looked The Other Way In The PFIPC Fake Agency Scandal!”.
Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and former ADC chieftain, Babachir Lawal, has asserted that the SGF’s office holds the primary responsibility for identifying and flagging the unauthorized Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC). Lawal made these remarks during an interview on ARISE Television amid ongoing police investigations into the alleged “fake agency,” which recently led to the detention of the father of the organization’s purported Director-General, Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Lawal’s perspective on the SGF’s oversight role includes:
-
During his own tenure, he personally attended budget defenses for the 23 agencies reporting directly to the SGF, ensuring he was fully informed of their operations.
-
Because the budgets of agencies reporting to the President through the SGF must pass through the SGF’s office before reaching the National Assembly, the SGF should naturally have knowledge of such entities.
-
Unless there is a “dereliction of duty,” the SGF should have flagged the existence of the fake agency.
-
He suggested that the SGF might only fail to intervene if they feel significantly “sidelined” and choose to ignore the issue.
-
Lawal emphasized that if he were in that position and felt sidelined, he would immediately protest the matter directly to the President.
